Miles M20 Emergency Fighter.
An 'Emergency' fighter made to replace losses in the Battle of Britain. Designed and built in 9 weeks and 2 days for speed of production by using many Miles Master parts and the Power Egg engine assembly as fitted to the Lancaster. The first flight was on the 15th. of September 1940, it was faster than the Hurricane but slower than the Spitfire, however the tide of war had turned and as there was no longer a need for these aircraft it never went into production.
