A Mustang and ORBX

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Here are some recent screenshots from P3D V4.2, with a new repaint I've been working on finishing, flying over some various ORBX scenery (Eagle County, Skagit and Minnesota). This is the first of a number of completely new versions of some old repaints of mine that will be released over the coming days/weeks for P3D/FSX usage.

Pretty much at a complete loss for words, wow will have to do! Just wow........:jump:

John, I purchase a few of your FSX Mustang packages years back, really enjoyed them.
I haven’t tried them in P3Dv4 yet but after this, it’s time!!!

Are there updates to be had, or just install into P3D and go flying?

Warbirdsim P-51 and P3D compatability

John,

I bought a number of your amazing packages a few years ago before I made the move to P3D. I'm currently running v3.4 on my home rig, and V4.2 on my road machine. Question-- are the existing packages compatible with each of those versions of P3D? Another quick question....is there a non-metallic paintkit available for civilian repaints?

Would love to have the P-51 in my hands again!

Kent

Thank you all for your replies!

I have all of the various Warbirdsim P-51D/K products installed in P3D, and there are just a few items that stand out to me as being the result of them being port-overs:

1- The self-shadowing on the dark side of the fuselage facing away from the sunlight tends to add some shadows of parts that are on the interior model (which I've noticed with other FSX planes ported to P3D V4 as well). I think the only way to fix this would be to recompile the models as P3D-native.
2- For some reason, the way I had the K-14 gunsight reticle system setup in FSX doesn't work properly in P3D V4 (there is something different there about the way P3D V4 handles the visibility parts/code). What happens is that the reticle is always on no matter what (and you can't change between the two different reticle types either, as what worked in FSX). As cool as it looks, I never fly with the gunsight turned on, so as the most simple/easy fix, I just blackened-out the alpha channel of the reticle texture(s) to permanently disconnect the power to the gunsight.
3- There is a weird artifact with the white navigation light effect for the tail (as I also saw in some of Jan Kees' screenshots) - I have redone the effect file to fix this problem.
4- The radios won't function properly until making a small little edit of the Aircraft.cfg file.

Items to address numbers 2-4 will be included with all repaints I release from here on out.

For this new repaint of "Sierra Sue II", I currently have three different versions completed (to upload together as one), so that the repaint can be installed into either the "Little Friends (I)" product, the "Happy Jack's Go Buggy: Then and Now" product, or the "Mustang Tales" product, all with unique/total compatibility, all with new exterior textures with new HD bump/normal maps, and with new/modified interior textures as well. No matter which product you choose, the repaint will look 99% identical, but with some minor differences to address some of the different model configurations. There are also two different options with this repaint that you can choose between to install (for any of the three products) - one that is more freshly restored, with a light polishing, less weathering and rainbowed exhaust stains - and the other being a slightly more aged appearance (following the past three years of operation), with more patina overall, with heavier lead-filled exhaust stains and standard oil staining. Both types can be compared in my screenshots posted above.

If you don't own any of those three and there is another particular Warbirdsim D-model product you own that you would like me to make a version of this repaint for, please let me know.

John this is great news! I can't wait to fly your Mustangs in P3D! I've been without since moving from FSX, and not having what you described working correctly! Thank you! And yes, I'm eager to meet you in the air at some point! ;)

John, I noticed this the other day - ghosting of the white lights (tail, beacon and landing) in P3Dv4. Lt. Walter Ingram's 'Dottie Q' from the 55th FG at Wormingford. This is an early block 5 with no rudder fillet but it occurs on all the ones I currently have loaded in P3D, including the B/C.

It could, of course be a setting issue with P3D but I don't get it with other aircraft. Other than that looking fantastic!:adoration:

Thank you Dave! Yes, that is one of the P3D-related items I've addressed, and I've redone that effect file and have included it with my new "Sierra Sue II" repaint (and will do so with all further D/K repaints I'll release).

Some more screenshots from a flight this morning (with the "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" model version). No frills/just some screen captures when I liked the angles. ; )

Right now I'm using 1.00 for brightness, 0.30 for bloom and 1.15 for saturation - but that is a bit different than the settings I had for some earlier shots. Right now I feel it is a good balance between being too dark when looking up toward the sky, and being too bright when looking down at the ground. For a few of the earlier shots, I turned the HDR lighting off too, otherwise I felt that it caused the aircraft/scenery to look too washed-out.
