Beechcraft XA-38 Grizzly - FSX Native Conversion

Sue,

Hmmm, rolls and loops ... this aircraft weights as much as the B-26 Marauder (medium bomber) and more than the A-20 Havoc (light bomber).

Empty weight = 25000lbs; max weight = 37000lbs

I assumed that since it was lighter and more powerful than its contemporaries it would be more aerobatic. Sure its heavier than the A-20 but with much more powerful engines.

From Wikipedia:

Beech XA-38

Douglas A-26

Martin B-26

But after comparing the figures I see its not that much lighter and not that much more powerful. Just more data and chatter to take under advisement.

Ok, the recog lights are working, but need re-positioned. They seem to be floating under the fuselage.
I love this plane ! Headed to bed, more later...

Sue, try these recog light positions;

light.4 = 7, -21.5, 0.0, 1.050, fx_recog_R,
light.5 = 7, -22.2, 0.0, 1.062, fx_recog_G,
light.6 = 7, -23.2, 0.0, 1.084, fx_recog_A,

Guess I need to drag these out of the corner of the paintbooth and finish 'em up

Some of the nothing better to do in the hospital paints that never got finished.

Milton's kicking these things out faster than I can paint 'em. But that's a good thing!!

Reading some comments on another site, some state that the Model 24 was faster in trials than the P-51....but no further details in my reading. There were two prototypes built. One was scrapped, the other promised to a museum, but it's fate became an ultimate unknown.

I think we just found another race paint candidate after the Swoose Goose project is done....the last Grizzly.

LOL That is correct.

Here is an AP article scan for folks who wish know all the nuts and bolts about the Grizzly design and testing.

Ok, the recog lights are on the fuselage now, not hanging in the air. Much better !
Thanks
Sue

Frankly Sue, I do not even recall putting those lights in or ever activating them. I cannot find any reference to them in the 3-view drawings for location.

But, that was 7 years ago. :)

Well folks, after 4 weeks under the weather with the "crud", I am finally getting back to a more normal state of body and mind, and getting some decent sleep for a change. I am hoping to get started on the military version of the Grizzly tomorrow; will require a few days to get the various models all sorted and do some kind of load out for the armament. Hopefully by next weekend we can have the military side available for testing.

EDIT: Okay, was looking at the various military versions. I now see that the recog lights were simply removed for the civil version and therefore those lights should be commented out for the civil one. That's why the lights were hanging in mid-air as the light housings and lens were removed.

Well that makes sense. I'D NEVER SEEN ONE OF YOUR PLANES WITH ANYTHING HANGING OFF WHERE IT SHOULDN'T BE.
I'll comment those out.
LOL
Sue

I have the military versions about ready for beta. Hopefully up by Tuesday evening.

I have deleted the Limited Civil Beta from the archives in preparation for the Full Beta, hopefully Tuesday by end of day.

Was there ever a paint kit or this? I cant seem to find one.

Hi John :) Long time; no see.

Yes, according to the original docs, the original paintkit was uploaded to Flightsim.com and Avsim.com.
By Damian Radice

I cannot find a copy of it on my system.

Milton , I know this has been stated many times before but your contribution to our hobby over the years has been never ending . We all appreciate all the hard work that you and others have done that makes this the outstanding hobby that it is . I always get an nostalgic feeling when I'm flying one of historic aircraft as though I were actually back in time . You can easily tell when you see the many aircraft that are a devs " Labor of Love " .

Thanks from all of us . :applause:

Rich

Well, thank you Rich. Yes, we have enjoyed working on and delivering these products as much as flying them. I have been fortunate to have great team members over the years who really brought my paltry works to life and made them what they became. It is their works more than mine that made these products. Developing these products in our spare time has always been a challenge but retirement makes it easier now for me.

My focus over the next year will be converting these works to FSX native and hopefully most will be suitable for P3D.

LOL I did not notice until last night that the pics I posted earlier of the military variants did not have the turrets installed. Corrected of course.

Here are all the variants that will be in the full beta to be released later today.

All these liveries were done by the late Damian "windrunner" Radice. Beautiful work.

I've got a copy of the Vers 2.0 paint kit that Damian "Windrunner" Radice did. I could upload it here giving full credit to Damian, if Milton has no objection.
