• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Hi Guys

The last good info I read was Jagd coming back to the forum.
I am myself a little fed up by the warm messages I tend to get when I try to help or deliver even the poor job I spent (little) time to do essentially fo my own pleasure it is right to say.

It seems the forum is getting very very old and frost into its own 'turning in circle' habits.

I will last send to dirtman what I have committed to do but you guys, and so to Baldy who will decide whether or not to use the skins and panel.
Nnot all but the most part of the members seems to have a rather limited views on the world and it is not surprising why the forum is only alive thanks to a handful of real fans who are not surpringly the nicest of the crowd.

I am at a loss for words...which is rare for me. I hope that I have not committed in any way to you alienation/displeasure. I have always admired the quality of you work and you input into the forum.

In any forum you are going to find people who can't resist pushing their own world view. I used to try ignoring such posts, but some time ago it occured to me that I should put them to better use. I appreciate the friends I have made here, and when I come across a post which I think is narrow minded or thoughtless it reminds me that I should give thanks for those friends and for their humour, thoughtfulness and generosity.
I hope you change your mind and come back, because your posts are always interesting and your work is always something to value.

Mercure, have you perhaps considered that the reason things are kind of circular at the moment (By that I presume you mean nothing really new is being posted) is that a vast amount of accrued knowledge was lost in the crash. People are attempting to get it back in here for assisting our continuing influx of new members.

Also I can't quite understand your problem about the praising of peoples work. Anything that is produced by this community that betters it in anyway will be pounced upon by all of us.

This Sim is still going strong after more than eight years because of people like you who do things and then allow the rest of us to share in them. Indeed, in recent times more of our faithful are joining the ranks of builders, skinners and such.

It's a shame that you've decided to leave us. It's a shame when anybody does. But don't be a stranger.:wavey:

But your assertion that "the most part of the members seems to have a rather limited views on the world" says a great deal. Since you're referring to the vocal majority here as "narrowed" in perspective, i also have to wonder why you would bother addressing them *or us* with this public announcement when you could have just sent your good-byes in private messages to the friendly, broad-minded minority you also speak of. Its not a good idea to angrily fire a round of scattering buckshot at the entire gang as a parting remark - you might hit a friend too. A public forum is just another open gathering spot where you will always see and hear things that personally displease you - especially if its an international meeting place. The thicker your skin, the longer you last. ;)

Whatever it truly is that's got you boiled over will eventually cool down and you'll rethink your last words and hopefully rejoin us again as a visible contributor, but you will also have left a lasting impression not only on the ones you're angry at but your friends as well who never offended you intentionally. Although i've seen some tense moments here too, compared to some other forums i've joined, this place is like a quiet Sunday drive in the country. :d

Whatever you decide, just take it easy and remember we're just a global gang of big boys playing with toys here. Nothing dramatic about any of this...unless you make it so. :male:

This is supposed to be enjoyable...when its not, its time to leave. Take care of yourself,:wavey: but, don't let the TURKEYS get you down...

I fail to see what worldviews have to do with a flightsimmer forum.

It's been my experience that the typical "worldview" maven is an ideiologue, which is another way of saying a victim of political conditiioning, usually having had the "worldview" poured into their skulls through a hole that's been drilled into the top of the skull. In addition, it appears unlikely that the ideologue ever re-examines the worldview after it has achieved "hardwired" status. For that reason, the ideologues' worldviews are usually worthless.
 
I'm not quite sure I actually have a world view. I love and value my family and country, Does that count? :cost1:

Uh... Perhaps I have been too disconnected from this forum due to real life, so I really am amazed to read that politics-cultural issues in this forum have been so (let's say) strong that force people like Jagd to quit from moderator and mercure to leave. Surely I have missed one or two hot discussions elsewhere. Anyway, my point of view is this: independently of how many there may be here from whose politic ideas I may differ, the fact is that I have met here during this years many good chaps who have behaved very kindly with me. Also they, on more or less degree according to their own circumstances, have contributed a lot to the CFS2 community. Of course there are others (very, very few, as far as I recall) on which I cannot say the same, but their presence will not stop me from participating in this forum and keep the relationship with the former. Otherwise I would be like admitting defeat against the bad ones... If they have to defeat me, first they will have to fight! :d
If one day I leave definitively this forum will be for other reasons (extremely busy real life) than a couple of badasses.
Once said this, I regret to see you go, Mercure. You have done a really good job with your textures and splash screens (I use them in at least two of my many CFS2 installations). Please reconsider. Perhaps taking a break is enough.

I am, of course, sad to hear that an artist the quality of Mercure is leaving. I am sure many of us would apologize if we knew what to apologize for. :confused:

Perhaps if Mercure will explain, we can seek to rectify the problem, or at least come to a better understanding.

Please folks, never leave mad. Give the other fellow a chance. Discuss the issues calmly. Then, if you cannot reach an agreement and feel you must discontinue the relationship, just smile and say goodbye. :wavey: :icon37:

Any other approach causes bad feelings that may last for a very long while. :mad: Certainly, Mercure does not intend to cause us hurt feelings.
 
I usually avoid topics related to politics and personel matters here at the SOH forum - i just think it isn't always the right ..eh ... forum . So every time someone solemnly declare they want to leave, it isn't the end of the world. New members stand in que. That's life. No need to post 999 replays to persuade someone to reconsider their decisison. Myself i will probably move on some day too... :d
