CBI Scenery Project

Texture Set for Rhumba Region S (CBI) - A set of "b" secenery textures to use with Rhumbas Region "S" which covers the CBI theatre

Texture Set for Rhumbas Region S
================================

View attachment 167029

This is a set of "B" textures that attempts to mimick a CBI terrain look. It's meant to be used with Rhumbas Region "S", which is the CBI, but may be useful elsewhere.

As CFS 2 uses only the "b" type terrain textures for everywhere outside of the SWPTO, I haven't included any "h" type textures, as I don't think these are required.

How to use:

Download Rhumbas Region S landclass files...

Thanks for the nice comments.

I suspect Rhumba used the FS2004 or FSX Landclass for these regions. They lack "variety" & the Asian cities "sprawl" into their surroundings is quite noticeable. But they'll do as an "undercoat", as it simplifies the need to create a more detailed landclass for everywhere across the CBI...

John, you've made a great improvement to the CBI. The stock land class around Rangoon is very poor.

I've also added Region Y which is northern Australia, using Aussie's textures for that part of the world. As you say, the Regions' land class lacks variety, so I still prefer to revert to the stock land class in that area.

Does anyone know if sets of textures were made for each of Rhumba's 26 regions? I haven't been able to find anything on them under FSX on other flightsim websites.

Cheers,
Kevin

Burma - Rangoon area - First in a series of scenery projects to create a "Rhumba mesh" compatible Burma/CBI theatre

Rangoon Scenery for CFS2 by UncleTgt

This is a reworking of the stock sceneries for the Rangoon area of Burma. This will be the first in a series of scenery releases, to expand & build on this area to cover more of the Burma theatre of operations.

It is designed for use with Rhumbas mesh, but as it's outside the SWPTO, should work well in a stock mesh install too.

Contents:
New Ground2K scenery for each, including fringing reefs.
New airbase scenery...

I'll use this thread for the releases of expansions for the CBI- Burma scenery project I first tarted during the Christmas break of 2024 (yes, it's that big an area!!!).

I've just uploaded a series of 4 scenery packages. This get's you:

Rangoon & it's surrounding area, as far east as the Sittang river mouth.

The lower reaches of the Salween river, to Moulmein at it's mouth, plus land as far South as Ye.

The Irrawaddy delta & lower reaches, encompassing Bassein & reaching as far north as Prome.

The lower Sittang river valley, as far North as Toungoo.

I'll be adding some smaller scenery projects as I create the inland airfields further North, plus related fields in SW China & NW Thailand, but my aim is to at least finish the Burma coast & improve the player experience when flying in the CBI & using Rhumbas excellent mesh.

Kev just raised a valid point with me regarding the land & waterclass bgls (###_LC.bgl or ###_WC.bgl).

With large projects such as this, as I expand the areas of coverage, I'm adding to existing files. Now, the standing instruction is to allow the "newer" file to overwrite the older one.
however, because these 4 packs all got uploaded today, it's possible that somebody will not install these in order, & might end up overwriting a newer landclass or waterclass bgl with an older one.

Rather than go back over everything, just keep in mind the order these packs were first created in:

1) Rangoon
2) Moulmein
3) Bassein
4) Toungoo

If you install them in order, you should end up with the latest LC & WC bgls installed.
