HU! Some more hidden gems from Pilote-Virtuel

Motormouse

SOH-CM-2025
Go Here ----> http://frenchvfr.free.fr/download.php?lng=en&pg=&id=1; this is the home site of the author of the Savoia S21 beta :jump:

Among other things in the 'Aircrafts FS2004' section; is a neat little french homebuilt; the Menestral HN433;
authors file says its 'beta 2' but looks pretty complete to me, has nice vc and 2d; just right for low and slow.

In same section; check out the PBY conversion from X-plane; and the 3/4 scale (0.75) DH Mosquito which is based on a r/w project to construct a 3/4 scale replica.

In 'Libraries/objects' and 'boats' section you can find Jacques Cousteau's 'Calypso'; one driveable, and one as scenery object.

From my rudimentary french (and google translate) he's making use of the welded poly techniques to export high poly count models; in similar fashion to the Bull Stearman by Mr Kallen.

Have fun

Hey Pete, thanks for the heads up. Both the web site and the aircraft are
very interesting.

Happy landings,
John

The Catalina's interesting. There's a nice looking VC, but the 2D is Mike Stone's old Cat panel. I didn't see any VC gauge movement in my <1 minute test, so I wonder if he's still working on that part...

Indeed .. nice Mosquito replica (have mod the prop for my taste ...)

About the Catalina (Canso) ....
Can someone explain me why the gear and floats are not animated (no deployment or retraction visible)
They stay always down .... :isadizzy:
Model problem ?

Cowl flaps are not animated either.Maybe it has something to do with it being a X-Plane conversion.I don't know, but I do like that it has a rear entry door!

Both the HN433 and the Canso are very nice beta models. The HN433 is a delight and looks fairly
complete. Hopefully work will continue on the PBY. Inside and out, it looks fantastic (although
frame rates take a hit).

As Hurricane kindly points out these are beta models to test a software application that converts X-plane high poly count models to fs2004 format; according to my rudimentary french, the author is aware of the shortcomings in animations and gauges, and the more he gets to understand the software the better he hopes his conversions will become. Meantime, I'm just glad that here is someone whom has not given up on fs2004 as a platform to experiment with.

We can turn this into a learning opportunity. Where are animations coded? I could not find any likely entry in the CFG. Is it in the MDL?

- H52

Animations are done in the model ... and they must be supported by entries in the aircraft.cfg with things like [exits] for doors/canopy opening speeds, contact points for suspension and gear retraction/extension times and limit speeds, flaps definitions for degrees and retraction/extension times and limit speeds, wing fold times, tail hooks size, location and speeds, prop animation degrees for fine/feathered/reversed, prop animation speeds, aileron/rudder/elevator/tab degrees of deflections, VC levers/switches, etc.

There's are few new planes Druine Turbulent , some radial engined plane resembling P-26 (seems lacking control stick and pedals are not moving, but very nice and worth to download regardless and a nice vintage glider.

Im not a pilot, or expert but turbulent seems a bit to much nose heavy also take off and landing speeds seems a bit to big, but visual model is amazing.

Thanks Kikas for the heads up. Both the SA-104 Emouchet sailplane and
the fictional "Tagazou" are quite exceptional models although I have not
flown them yet.
