MAW 110 cockpit textures missing

gaw

Charter Member
Hey all....my MAW 110's have gauges but no cockpit textures.........did I corrupt something or is this the universal state of affairs? If not....would someone be so kind as to post me the shared files I'm probably missing? Thanks.....gaw

I'm assuming that MAW Bf110's bear some resemblance to the stock CFS3 Bf110?

If so you might need foute man's Bf109 and Bf110 shared files to compensate for grey textures in the cockpit, I had the same problem last year with Ted's Heinkel 219.

I have the shared files if they can work in MAW, but i need your PM if you want them.

There's no stock textures in use on the MAW 110.
It's just the crate has never been finished.
If you see some gauges plus light green cockpit walls that's all what's in there.

The MAW 110 is the GC version - I suggest popping over to Reg's Hangar and getting the shared files there. I'm surprised to hear that they are not in MAW...

Posted as Mathias spoke. I suppose I must have put the 110G cockpit in then...

Add-on for Bf110 C

I made an add-on for the Bf110C cockpit textures, if it can help you can rename them to match
with the m3d model missing files. Just see in the Other section of the Add-Ons Library.

Cheers

Thanks gents for the replies.....I'll chase this down here.....still think MAW's one of the great unsung beauties in the CFS3 locker....everytime I open it up I'm astonished by how rich it looks....thanks again!!!

You don't. Just rename the cockpit .m3d files. They'll find the texture files by themselves.

Open any model folder, and you'll see. XXXXXXX.m3d will have XXXXXXX_cockpit0.m3d, XXXXXXX_cockpit1.m3d and so on, where XXXXXXX is the name of the aircraft m3d.

Hex Edit Information

I'm trying to follow this thread and am just as lost as the next guy... would this info help?

View attachment 5201

I marked in orange blocks where the .dds files are referenced within the Cockpit Model file.

gc_bf110g_c2.dds
gc_gauges_d2.dds
g_stock_gauges_1.dds
gc_gauges_d1.dds
gc_gauge_glas_t.dds
g_stock_gauges_2.dds
gc_bf110g_panel2.dds
gc_revil2_c1.dds
gc_revil2_c2.dds

Those are the files names. I DL'd some files from the groundcrew website and simviation, and have them all now.

So I'm going to have to agree with Mathias on post #3 (he is accredited in the downloads I looked through) and accept them in the "as is" condition.

Hopefully this information can help someone else if they do choose to modify them to their own likings. I would like to know more about doing that also.

Still lost. Perhaps I'm not clear in what I don't understand, so let me try this example.

The MAW DR_Bf110E_G1_LB_7z26 has a model folder which contains three files:

DR_Bf110E_G1.M3D
DR_Bf110E_G1_Cockpit1.M3D
DR_Bf110E_G1_Cockpit2.M3D

The BF110C cockpit textures noted above are a series of .dds files with several different "prefixes" - fs_bf110c, fs_gaukmb, KMB_Guages, etc.

What do you do? Change the model name to what? Do you put the .dds files in the MAW aircraft Shared folder? This is my dilemma.

I located all of the .dds files listed by Phenozo in the ETO GC/TK shared file. I then placed them in the MAW aircraft shared file. Still no luck. The BF110 cockpit remains rudimentary. Oh, well.

Back to square one. Clear your mind of everything that has been said above. All of it.

We will take the example of DR_Bf110E_G5_7LG2.

The DR Bf110s have a single cockpit file. Back that up by renaming it (say) XXX_DR_Bf110E_G5_Cockpit0.M3D.

With me so far?

Now get hold of the GC Bf110g. NOT the ancient C model or anything else. Mathias's G, any model, from the GC section of Reg's Hangar. Download the shared files as well.

Copy the cockpit_0.m3d from this aircraft into the model folder of DR_Bf110E_G5_7LG2. Rename this file to DR_Bf110E_G5_Cockpit0.M3D.

OK?

The shared files you can put ANYWHERE in your MAW install. It doesn't even matter if you put them into the sounds folder, but don't, because you won't be able to find them again. So put them where you usually put shared files, wherever that may be. I put them into the aircraft/shared folder, which seems logical enough...

If you feel bright enough, you can open the new cockpit m3d with a hex editor to check the file names with the names of the dds files you have just put in the shared folder. If that sounds complicated, believe me, it isn't.

You should now have a beautiful (if not entirely correct for this type) pilot's cockpit in your Bf110E. Go and see if you have. If you haven't, then delete the new cockpit and do it again. Keep doing it until it works, since you are clearly doing something incorrectly.

Finally, for reasons which I'm not going to go into, you will find that you can no longer use the gunner position. That's just one of those things, so try telling yourself that you didn't want to anyway.

Good luck!

Incidentally, if your DR Bf110E has TWO cockpit files, I'm surprised... There should be one, which weighs 433KB.

Of the five "stock" MAW Bf110s, only the one mentioned has a second cockpit file.

I didn't realize that you would lose the gunner postion by installing the new cockpit. I haven't convinced myself that I want that yet.

Thanks again for your help.

None of the Bf110E's supplied with MAW has two cockpit m3d files.
S'pose you got that second one elsewhere.

Isn't the DR_BF110E_G1_LB_7z26 one of the five 110s that come with MAW? I have no memory of adding to or altering the Model folder. (Although my memory is starting to falter) I think it came with the two referenced files.

Yes it is, but no second vc m3d in there.
I should know, I made them. Beside that, I just checked to make sure on my vanilla MAW install.
