Michael Pearson's F-104s

There is one program I know of to make AI aircraft flyable. It's called BBQ Hide AI. You can find it at flightsim.com or avsim. It's very easy to use. All you have to do is update the cfg file and allow it to show in your menu and presto. Just add sounds and a panel. It has a readme if you get confused. Good luck. Kind regards, Jeremy

Did you check to see if the "Aircraft type" was changed from a "2" to a "0" in the airfile? AI aircraft are a type "2" so they won't show in the menu.

Okay here is the Readers Digest version. Open BBQ. Select the aircraft you want select the CFG and save it as Normal. Then select that aircrafts AIR file and then find and click batch update AIR file. Click it and you should see at the bottom, make hidden or make visible. Click make visible. Save and quit and you're done. Hope you get it sorted cause it's really easy once you get the hang of it. Don't forget to read the readme. Kind regards, Jeremy:salute:

Were there not a few really good freeware options for the LawnDart that already are flyable ??? Just asking since that would seem a better solution than making an AI bird flyable to me.

Cheers
Stefan

Unfortunately, no. I have been looking for a really good one for years now. The only one I have found is Ito's (if I remember correctly) and it's not bad but an older model for sure. But as the old saying goes, "Beggars can't be choosers." :icon_lol: Best regards, Jeremy

I make AI planes flyable all the time.

Add a panel and sound.

Make sure you delete any reference to "AI" in the title entry in the air.cfg.

Away you go. If you plan to fly it a lot you can then tweak the air.cfg e.g. perhaps from another flyable version with more tailored flight characteristics.

Is the Mario Motta AERITALIA F-104S still available? IIRC it was done by the modeler who did the Cloud9 Starfighter. It's an awesome plane for a freeware project. I think Mario has gone on to Sim Skunk Works. I think the FS9 version was released as a beta before he took it to FSX as payware. The nice thing about his free F-104S is that Cloud9 repaints (mostly) fit. The not so nice thing is it was only available in the clean loadout. It has a very nice vc.

edit: I type too slow. The one Bjoern is referring to is the one I was thinking of.

Sunny.. the Rey Lopez model is decent as well. Forgot about that one. Both his and Ito's need a good sound pack. Pfflyers, not sure about Mario's. I haven't seen it for quite a while. You are right I believe when you say it was only released as a beta. If anyone could find it, THAT would be the one to go for. Kind regards, Jeremy

Tried the above - probably a daft question but is is possible to delete the access ladder and chocks that always accompany the aircraft ? Had similar issues when trying to fly Mr Pearson's Phantoms ....

Not sure about deleting since they are modelled into the craft but I believe to make them disappear you just leave the lights off or something to that effect. Those are modelled features that are disabled once a key is implemented. It could be the lights, spoiler, tailhook, wing fold, etc. Play around and you will find it. Kind regards, Jeremy :wavey:

Nope.

Beacon on -> ground equipment off.

At least that's how AI traffic announces startup (not sure if engine RPM is modeled/tracked for AI).

The reason I started this is that I really like the paint schemes. I remember what Michael did for Ito's F-102A. Wish he would do these paints for Kaz's F-104's! :jump:
