More A-6 Repaints

Go Duckie Go!

I had just discovered your other repaints in the "old warrior" thread - love them!!

They work well in the "other sim" :icon_lol: - so whatever else you crank out, I'll happily enjoy.

Many thanks!

DL

Thank you delta_lima. It's good to know they work in X as well. There are a few more paints in the pipeline. :salute:

Bb686: Thank you.

This is an intresting thread for me, i have the Razbam model in my hanger but i do like the look of the Alpha model, esp as there seems a lot more high ziv 1960's, 70's paints, which is the era im really intrested in, maybe when Virtavia have there next sale, i'll pick me up a copy and fly with your great looking repaints.
cheers ian

Thanks Ian. Gray and White USN is my favorite time period as well. I was surprised to find some of these G&W schemes made it so long before the painters finally caught up with them!

I too have both the RB and AS verions.

I prefer the enormous (complete?) range of models offered by the RB version, whereas the AS version pegs you to the TRAM-equipped E (introduced in '79), which (realistically) means the high-vis schemes were only on the for a few of years prior to transitioning to low-vis.

On the other hand, the breadth of AS repaints available, even if "ficticious/wrong model" - compell me to keep this bird around. I find it's also easier on FPS than the RB version, and though less complex, I like the look of the AS VC. It is/was a keeper, and will continue to fly it alongside my favourite Intruder - the EA-6A from RB. That way, the spectrum is fully covered, and no overlaps in my hangar - everyone's happy! :)

Any other USMC paints in the hopper?

cheers,

DL

The model range was the selling point for the Razbam Intruder for me as well. I've been on a VMFA (AW) 242 kick lately so I'll toss in a suggestion for a Bats Intruder.

I too have both models and to be certain, the RB diversity of models does offer a wide range of possibilities. But I chose the AS/VA model purely and simply because I preferred it. Each model has it strong points and weak points and, like most things FS, sim pilots make thier own subjective choices as to which they prefer. I do too.

I also prefer to try and be as accurate as my skills will allow with my repaints which is why I probably won't do any fictitious repaints, that is, paint the TRAM as an "A", or even an "E" without the TRAM update. This is NOT a criticism of those who do, simply a statement of my preference. I have practically all of the available repaints for both the Razbam and Virtavia models. A couple of my favorites for the TRAM are actually for the "E" without the TRAM equipment but they are super repaints and I like them.

Thanks for all the interest and feedback.

Steve
