MSFS2024 - Built For The Future

FAC257

SOH-CM-2024
As most should know, the moon is continually drifting away from the Earth about 1 1/2" a year. With this in mind Asobo scaled the Moon so that MSFS2024 would still be usable about a million years from now.

Noticed this on a night flight last night. WTF! :)

The apparent size of the moon depends on how much you have the camera zoomed out. Here it looks like you have the camera close to the aircraft and zoomed out quite a bit. If you were to move the camera farther away from the aircraft and zoom in, the moon will appear larger.

I was looking forward to FS2024, but it's been the worst ever software release bij a long shot.

I just had 2 weeks of vacation, and didn't load it once, as I didn't want to ruin my mood with all the bugs.

I've been enjoying XP-12 and FS 2020.

For now FS2024 has been a total waste of my hard earned money.

Regarding the future..., I hope FS2024 doesn't die the same silent death as Microsoft Flight did.

It does have some redeeming faults... Relatively stable, puts up with my limited internet (mostly). I don't fly the default planes but am working on some projects: 737-200; FG1D; Puss Moth; and in the future some other planes such as Otter; 747 series, DC2 and who knows. With the Pioneer Spirit heading across the broad prairies in a wagon train and circling the wagons each night against updates.

I'll play with that. What is in that pic is just the default exterior view without any zooming. it looks zoomed on the aircraft because I cropped just that portion out of the full screen shot.

Thanks!

It's all about focal length. It's the lens you're using, not the sim!

These pics were all taken at the same time -- sim was paused and I just varied the zoom from default up to 100%.

That's amore.

Just browsing around since I can't get into a sim and saw the title of this post and started laughing. No ill will intended.

There does seem to be quite a difference in scaling of the moon between 2020 and 2024. Here is a comparison between 2020 (top) and 2024 (bottom), both with the camera zoomed in completely.
