OT: Fecati Adware

I picked up some adware this morning, it seems to be related to fecati.com.

I have scanned my PC with super-antispyware which has deleted the DLL file from my system32, however everytime I start my PC I get an error message saying that 'lxcmspmm.dll' is missing from my system32 folder.

Searching for fecati.com on my C drive does not work and I have also tried scanning with malwarebytes and Nod32 but they pick nothing up.

It is no big deal I know but the error message is bugging me!

Has anyone been affected by this and succesfully erased it from your PC, if so how did you do it?

Many thanks

Hmm, I do not even have the DLL you talk about on my system and I also cant find anything about it on the internet. Maybe you can try a program that fixes your registry like CCLeaner.

Possibly the cleaner did not "un-register" the DLL although the offending file was deleted.

To unregister a DLL from XP open a command prompt window and use:

regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\evilbadguy.dll /u

You would substitute your DLL name. You also might want to consider creating a Restore Point before you try it.

Have not had your specific adware but have on occasion had to use this method.

Thanks for your help guy's, I wish I knew more about computers, it would make life a lot easier.

I found a blank entry in my system start up, Start> Run> msconfig and then selected the start up tab.

I am not sure wether it was the correct thing to do, but the problem seems to have gone away.

Thanks again for your help.

All the best
