Speaking of things you see and hear in FS9

Has anyone seen the Easter Island stature to the left of 34r at the default airport at Seattle?I am probley not very obsevant and just noticed it, or have finally gone over the edge, but after years of using that airport and runway for testing new planes you,d think I've had noticed it before Also I redownloaded the Alpha Blue Corsair ,which I've had for years on one of my backup disks along with the updates and noticed a clanking sound ,even with the engine off, that sounds like someone pounding on an anvil.
The sound doesn't go away after the engine is running and I'am airborn.
I fixed it by replacing the sound file from another Corsair.
I have the same sound in another plane but don't remember which ,but it goes away when airborn. When I come across it I'll replace the sound file on that one too.
Maybe it has something to do with I haven't got a sound system for my new puter yet and am using an earpice, orrrrr ,I've finally gone compleatly gonzo.

All of the above mentioned odities seem completely normal to me.
I wouldn't worry about a thing.
You're among friends.

Breathe...breathe...breathe....

I saw a bumper sticker a while back that said:

"I can't go to work today...the voices told me to stay home and clean the guns."

My license plate on my Harley is HOG5250...

:icon29:

The clanking sound is a left over from CFS, a bomb release I think. Just play the sounds in Media player one at a time, when you find it, delete it.

I just taxied the full length of 34R and didn't see any Easter Island statuary.

Perhaps you could post a screenie?

I wish I could send a screenshot

I would send a screenshot of the statue but don't know how.I thought there used to be something in the toolbar across the top about sending screenshots but can't find it now.
Another thing different is when I was running XP on my old computor you could make a visable path from your parking position to the active ,I don't see anyway to do this now.
Also the flying lessions and learning center are no longer avalible, when you try to bring them up you get a message saying that webpage can't be found which is really strange because those ar'ent on a webpage ,I found both on one of the disks and
copied both to a separate folder outside the root folder.
As for the clanging noise with the Corsair ,I had the exact same Corsair in my old XP install(this is Windows 7 Home Premium)and no clanging or metal on metal sound then.
Now the Easter island thingy is dark gray and off to the left of 34R in the grass that separates it from 34L.
Could it have something to do with the NaVidia card?I never noticed it on XP with the Radon card ,but then I never saw it at first on this putor before either till I lost the settings and had to reset them in NaVidia inspector.

If you only want one screenshot, then just hit the PrtScn button when what you want is onscreen. Then pause or shut down the Sim and open your favorite graphics program, like Paint or Gimp. In Paint, just hit the Paste button to drop in the screenshot from the clipboard. Save the image as a jpg or png, and upload here.

If you want multiple shots without having to quit what you're doing, than you'll need a screenshot app. There have been hundreds of threads discussing which one is best, and I've had to toss my moderator's "wet asbestos blanket" on more than a few of those. Needless to say, you can find any number of them with Google. If you want the fewest bells and whistles and the smallest processor footprint, use FSScreen. Another version of that that adds a few more features is YAFSScreen. A third option that also seems popular is Snapper. FSScreen only saves at bitmaps, so you'll want to convert to png or jpg before you upload. The other two give format options.

Hi,

In GMAX when someone creates an MDL object, it also includes code in the accompanying XML file that would place the object at KSEA if you remove the comments from that code. Someone probably was playing around with such an XML file, and inadvertently included the resulting BGL file in a scenery package they released. Thus you ended up with an Easter Island head at Seattle. I have seen a couple more odd objects sitting there as well through the years.

Hope this helps,

At least you don't think I'am totally nuts

Although I don't fully understand the xml etc. stuff and the closeest I've come to buying scenery was FS Globle 2005, years ago I ,was kinda thinking maybe some freeware scenery may have caused it,because in my reinstall I have much more scenery than I've ever had before.
I was thinking maybe it's like CFS3 which puts a big yellow smiley face thing in place of an airplane if you have more than one type of stock plane.Kind of like if it doesn't have a scenery object in the libary, it puts something else in ,although why an Easter Island stature and why Seattle ,I don't know.
I haven't gotton around to trying a screenshot because I've never used a graphics or photo program although I think one is probley installed in my programs.
Anyway the Easter Island stature is kinda neat ,I took one of the VW's I've installed and drove around it and it looks like it's ment to be there so it doesn't bother me I just wondered where it came from.
Then again there,s always the alien theroy.

I think Bill Gates is probably an alien and feeds off the negative energy we emit when "arguing" with Windows. LOL

Seriously, you might try turning off your different airports via the world/scenery library dropdown menu. You could isolate which airport is adding the statue to KSEA.

FS Design Studio assigns a default guid "address" to objects created in that software. The .bgl file containing that object would place it at approximately your Two O'Clock from the cockit view at KSEA 34R.

From that location the object could be moved with a scenery tool like Instant Scenery. That could put the statue at the location you are indicating.

Sounds like you have an addon lurking somewhere in your library containing the statue. Of course, if it doesn't bother you...let it be. It sounds kind of a cute addition.

kind of unique

I don't have any scenery near Easter Island, and I'am the only one who uses my flight sims. The statue is at my 10:00 postion exactly oppisite(thats not spelled right ,I know) the 2:00 position. I really don't mind it ,it's kinda unique, and it's not that big, someday I'll get this screen shot thingy and send one.
