Weekend trip to Arlington National Cemetery

Navy Chief

Senior Member
This past Sunday afternoon, I took a flight to D.C., to attend the funeral of my Aunt Sally Jackson. She passed away a couple months ago in Indianapolis, and her remains were finally buried at the gravesite of my Uncle Bob Jackson at Arlington. It was a very quick ceremony. No military honors, but a US Navy Chaplain did officiate. If you have never visited Arlington National Cemetery, I recommend doing so.

Sorry for your loss,Chief. It was good to see the Navy there to lay her to rest.May she rest in peace alongside the good Captain.:USA-flag:

My Aircraft Commander from 2003 will be buried there in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I'll be on vacation and won't be able to attend.

I attended my father's funeral in Jan 2009. He's just a few rows away from a good buddy of his from Vietnam, and they are both buried next to KIA from Iraq and Afghanistan. Good company.

Oddly enough, you can see his old office in the Pentagon from his site.

Sorry for your loss NavyChief. I've been once to the Arlington Memorial Cemetery and once to THE WALL...it was all I could take.
Ted
