The materials are set up for polished finishes. Just adjust/paint the alphas and spec files to suit your style.:engel016:

using latest version of the paintkit and model has it coming somewhat short of polished, using both CS6 and DXTbmp give me the same result in P3D

even with a plain black alpha on each of the psd, its not producing the highly polished bare metal alpha shine,

Another thing ive noticed, several parts of the aircraft react differently to the alpha, the only 3 uniform sections are mid and rear sections along with the main tail.

Im more than happy to send you the files, that have been generated my the paintkit so you can scrutinize them

Ok i thought i would double check since i used dxtbmp before to make sure its not the paintkit

I just created a 1024x1024 black bmp and used the same as an alpha

And got exactly the same results without the paint kit, to me thats a model issue

No, you will not achieve a highly polished, mirror finish. It was not designed for that. It was designed for a more natural aluminium finish.:engel016:

Matt, not sure if this is will help you any but I am doing a repaint of the MacRobertson Miller Dove VH-MMO. It is mostly bare metal and I am using this combination:

Red: 173
Green: 174
Blue: 181

Alpha: Black 10 but working on adjustment for more shine.

I am using Paintshop Pro X5 to create the BMP and them in DXTBmp I use the BMP to import it into the Alpha window and then using PSP I create the Alpha.

I'll try to show a screenshot later today.

thanks but I was aiming on doing a highly polished bare metal scheme, since its not going to happen, i'm not going to waste anymore time on it

Current work in progress. Devon VP967. I flew in this aircraft in July 1966 from RAF Bovingdon to RAF Chivenor and back as a passenger when I was a ATC Flight Sergeant. Amazed that she still exists in a museum!

Currently working on stencils, etc.

Not sure whether to post this here or on the JF Forum. I am trying to do a repaint of an MMA Dove and am wondering about the shine. I get an excellent bare metal finish on the engine nacelles but the fuselage is a different matter. I have read somewhere that shine an be set in the model and I am wondering if this is the case with the Dove. Attached is a screenshot of what I have achieved so far.

Pat,
Check out the exchange between jeansy and Bazzar above;)

DaveB:)

Dave I went back and read that exchange but has left me puzzled as I get a brilliant shine on the engines but on the rest of the aircraft all I get is a dull sheen. Ahh well I will leave it for a while and try again a couple of months down the track.

The model has not been designed for high shine metallics. If there is enough call, I will travel to JF towers. :engel016:
