I remember reading an article several years ago in some aviation mag (Air Progress, maybe?) about a pair of S-211's that came on the civilian market and the author of the piece was given some time in the front pit, writing that it was a seriously nifty piece of aviation kit. I genuinely look forward to seeing what you come up with...

There are 3 airplanes from the FS9/FSX days that I truly miss flying now that P3D_V4 is all I have installed. Those are the AlphaJet, The AMX and the MB339. The S-211 is the answer to those forgotten aircraft and I look forward to the completion and release, whenever that happens to be. Thanks Dino!

As usual thanks for your support.
Apart from having one at the local airport (which needless to say it is a big plus) I think this project makes a lot of sense from several point of views - last but not least the fact that this aircraft is very well documented and the fact that it is enjoying a second life in private hands.

A couple of notes:
- Sticking to my "no fiction" rule, there will not be a tailhook version.
- Depending on time and resources the package may also include, right from the start, Aermacchi M-311 and M-345 (which are mostly the same aircraft, but with modern avionics, glass cockpit an minor modifications such as ventral fins... the final M-345 willl also have redesigned air intakes and nose section). Since documentation on the M-311/M-345 cockpit and interface is not publicly available, there will be some guess work there.

Anyway, here is the current external model... *ALMOST* finished!

Just a quick picture from a short test flight - Roy Holmes is doing the flight model and, as usual, he is doing a great job. Also, since this aicraft is extremely well documented (including performance data) the flight model will closely match the real world performance.

Needless to say the Frecce Tricolori livery is being worked on ;-) - I had to simplify a little the graphics of the underbelly mostly for resolution reasons...
Anyway, chance is the Frecce Tricolori model will have a proper M-345 3D model, including digital cockpit.

...I played with that concept years ago. Fun...but there are a lot of limitiations.
Doing that with the S-211/M-345 model is basically impossible (well... a 3 ship flights might be doable, but with poor frame rate).

Btw: Roskam's "Airplane Design", part VI has a drag polar for the S-211. Part III (or IV) has some general data on wings and empennage.

Hi Bjoern, would you happen to remember which volume had the engine decks in it? I have a couple volumes, but I really want that volume the most, as that kind of propulsion data is generally difficult to find.

Well, Roy Holmes is working on the flight model - and I believe he is using data from Roskam's book along with flight and performance manuals - as I said the aircraft is extremely well documented.

By the way here is a first glimpse at the cockpit - it will reflect the I-MJET layout, which is basically a late production cockpit but with some military avionics replaced by civilian equivalents (but I will bring back the armament panel).

For the record, other civilian users have significantly upgraded the layout with modern electronics:
