DC-4 Skymaster

@gray eagle,
Searching on internet I have find some picture of this R5D [56-549] VR-24 "City of London" but impossible to obtain a good view of the front logo under the label City of London.

However, I found this 56-549 (in color) but with an older/new paint (I suppose) which doesn't show the famous logo:

But I also find an other VR-24 [immat 50-863] which can be a good compromise, what do you think ?

For the aircrafts from VR-24, I have this link: https://www.vr-24.org/Aircraft_photo_pages/Page_two_R5D_photos.htm

I like it and hope a livery like that can be done with the VR-24 badge on it. That would b GREAT!

Yes, it was this picture and "BRAVO" (y) for the bagde.

I just finish to compile and test the "US NAVY" version for this R5D-2 [50-863]

... but it is possible to do an other repaint with the 549 and the badge VR-4

No, I don't think : the round mark that is displayed on the Tiger's image should be the top of the US roundel.

have two corrections to improve thsi repaints:
- the red mark for the "propeller danger" label is to backward on my texture
- the Y letter of NAVY on the left side of the fuselage need some improvments.
So I can change the immatriculation and add the 50549 numbers and the CITY of LONDON logo

Yes I think you are correct.

Her are some pics I found for the VR-24 logo.

In the pic below I think the usa flag should of been reversed that is, the stars should be on the
right and the strips on the left. If it were a real flag in the wind it would of been flying that way.
I think back in day those people did not think about that. Do you want to keep it that way or
change the direction that the flag is showing on the right side. Maybe later on those people
were aware of this and changed it.

The "reversed" flag on military uniforms isn't about breaking rules—it's about honoring the deeper meaning behind them. It represents constant forward motion and the unbreakable spirit of those who serve our nation.Flag.JPG

The red oval is where the VR24 logo is on the left side. The flag is in right direction here.

For the flag I had already anticipated when I started the repaint because I knew the rule and I had also checked other photos.
For the label "City of London" right side, I hadn’t seen it.

For the VR-24, it is correct on the repaint but it is the "roundel" which is too backward ! It should cover exactly the two rear doors (see the joints at the top)

Ah...I see what you mean about the roundel covering two doors.

As you can see, the flags are OK, now I have to duplicate the label on the right side of the fuselage. but on the roight side I don't see the VR-24 logo !!!

Yes, now the repaint is correct (y)
.
Just, on the model 3D I forgot to add the "windows" which is after the "roundel" and before the VR-24 logo but Mike "CYUL"also have forgot this "point" so I don't change anything.

The new texture folder "texture.usnavy" make 80 MO so I don't think to joint a ZIP to this post.
Tomorow I will do one or two flights and I will release an intermediate version ... Monday or Thuesday.

Thank you (y)

It shouldn't have. The flag is always meant to be waving back toward the tail of the aircraft - Stars should always be forward and stripes toward the tail. Same with the flag patch on a uniform or elsewhere. It wasn't an option to my knowledge

If that's a restoration paint, it could be that the painter didn't know better. If it's original, my only guess is that it was painted before the Flag Code was written. Either way, the current standard is that the Union (blue field of stars) should be oriented forward as if being blown in the wind.

most likely probability is a civilian restoration paint - noting also the position of the national insignia under the right wing is cocked and looking at the word 'NAVY' on the fuselage it looks like N AV Y with the spacing all wrong.

For Gray Eagle and as in the Mike's addon for P3D, I found also an other repaint of US Navy, I have made the conversion this morning for the fun.
You note that this one don't have any flag on the rudder  It will be in the next version of course.
