The Catalina X is finally released.

Thats because the soundmodule doesn´t accept an Id number in it´s config file.

Are You sure that You answered yes when selecting each of the Catalina versions the first time You loaded them (You will be asked when selecting a PBY-5, PBY-5A and PBY-6A) ?

It will also show You this message if the .air file name has changed, or the if the .air file has been changed !

Please Re-install the Catalina and make sure to answer yes when prompted.

Beautiful, Yago9, but isn't the star upside down?

Sure is..That,s called work in progress screenshot.. Without a kit ,it just a quessing game to place stuff..Not a friendly layout for photoreal textures ,that,s for sure. Only a off-curiosity try out, nothing more.Black shiny planes are the hardest to paint in FS to look right. This model has perfect default textures and I really dont need any other, but this is what I do as FS entertainment sometimes...Great job Aerosoft again..:applause:

It looks fantastic so far! Are the highlights and glossiness pure model, or are they baked into your photo textures?

it,s the texture..Take a look one page back and you can see it without photoreal accents..for that I wished I had a stronger and more visible bump map like the one in that beautiful NUMA repaint...I need those rivets..

has anyone been able to get blister views like the ones nick posted screens off? i've added swivel to the camera etc but i just get huge clipping going on as you do when its not part of the vc :frown:

No luck here either, but I found out the blisters are the wrong place to be when it rains. :icon_lol:

Thanks for the advice...works fine now. Okay, new problem.
I cannot set the ADF frequency in the old radios. The modern ADF works
fine. Any ideas?

Well I was flying today and I just tried to use the speedbrake just to see what happens and I couldn't visually see anything but my Cat procedded to fall out of the sky. It fell about 50 feet in an instant stall so I was wondering what exactly the speedbrake does to the Cat.

The Catalina had no speedbrake, and with this model it is used to create a more realistic flight behaviour with added drag from rain icing on the wings for example. Make sure you keep the axis if assigned, or the key, in retracted position for the Catalina.

Hey Stiz, I just zoomed out a bit and moved around in the blister to show how the weapons were modelled. It should be fairly easy to replicate.

Raptor,

The speed brake is used for some under the hood functions, but I can't go into too many details as to what they are or how they work. The bottom line is yes, that is what should happen (meaning you don't have a bug), but it's only because we can't tell FSX to ignore speed brake input...the same principle is at work in the flaps.

Kind Regards,
John

i downloaded it earlier.. All i can say is that i'm glad there are guys like Chris and butch around who know how to use things like that cuz it scared the willies outta me. It's majorly complex and dont look too friendly at all...

Well, this is the one I was waiting for. So, was it worth the wait?
Absolutely! This is an awesome plane, in every aspect! Getting home last night I installed it with minimal fuss. Being a sook I decided to use the "standard" engine setup instead of the "realistic" option for the 1st flight! After a successful flight, I turned on the "realistic" option and was very proud to achieve start (eventually!) from cold-and-dark cockpit! Did have a couple of close-calls with engines quitting and spluttering, but managed (more good luck than actual management!) to get them started again before hitting something!

Highlights of this plane for me so far:
- SOUND! Engines just roar, splutter and rumble away beautifully!
- Opening windows and roof hatch. Always important for yelling "CLEAR"!
- Is it my imagination or does the windscreen get dirtier as you fly? I love it!
- Windsceen wipers! 2-speed even better!
- Having the Aussie VH-PDZ restored plane!
- Comprehensive manual.
- Best checklist ever! Very straightforward to use. And instant!
- Beautiful cockpit! Every time I look to my right I go to duck my head under that big electric motor! (What is that for, btw?)

This ugly duckling is a true beauty! She displays real character and class. Fantastic for VFR, in all weather! :ernae:
