• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

AVSIM wiped out

This is depressing and disconcerting to find evil so rampant even in our small community, I'm sure whoever is doing this is hoping the site fails so to give up would be exactly what they want, we can't let that happen. Avsim has been my main place to download and upload files since I got hooked on this hobby, hope they return even stronger.

I have always thought of Avsim and a few other sites
of being part of a community we may compete in a
Race once a year thats friendly competition
but bottom line when any of our friends get attacked
it hurts us all.

Man, what's the world coming to? Avsim was the default "go to" place. One of the few places that would run an announcement without requiring that they get something out of it. I remember their first months of operation forever ago in the form of a sort of ezine before they got their own website (first with no images and then adding them (lots of Phantoms) with the second or third issue). They've been an important part of this hobby ever since. Well, I hope they bounce back with a speedy recovery. :jump:

I understand what you meant but just to clarify, I don't think the evil is within our community but rather from outside. Avsim has always led a sort of campaign against those who would try to do wrong within or against the FS community. I suspect someone on the outside decided it was payback time.

Tom was getting someone on site and we will see what’s what , we need some good fortune at this point to get it back online and more hardware in the loop to backup the data so as to prevent it happening again, but Avsim was built by a volunteer army and supported by a dedicated group who don’t give up easily , that is its strength and that hasn’t changed.

Check on internet. There are many places that offer services for "Recovereng Data" from blown out disks, etc.....it is 95% possible to recuperate it through a software procedure.........................

Amigos, I hope you all understand this is an Evil World!!!!!!.....many demons lurk around in all kinds of wear....some even are Presidents of Countries ( Chavez in Venezuela a casual example, but lately others all over), some paint themselves as "Change" Gurus, others are as comedians and clowns and many as Newspapermen and super TV anchors!!!!......yes, keep your eyes open. Just take another look at Wallstreet!!!!, GM, Chrysler and so many other places where evil lurks...........that´s why its better to fly in FSX!!!!!!........Some sicko, class number one whoever messed up Avsim, reason for someone doing something like that........evil from start to end.
Am sure Avsim will come up again, the data is there, its just a long procedure to put it up again........:kilroy:
 
I just don't understand the reason behind such acts of evil. Next to SOH, AVSIM was a site I visited every day of the week. Flightsim.com too, but downloading from them is so slow. The forums were a wealth of information too, and another source of flight simming tips, besides this great site.

I hope they are able to recover. This is just a horrible thing to happen.

Anyone know who this is? He posted this at SimFly and needs to be seriously corrected by using 9/11 as an analogy to what's happening at AVSIM. That's an outrageous comment that I can't believe stands there.

Bob, I figured that the conspiracy theories would start to fly as soon as the news was announced. These guys come out of the woodwork whenever something like this happens. We're all outraged enough without "theories" like this numbnuts posted... Tom and the rest of the Avsim gang is on top of rumor control at the temporary Avsim forum. An investigation is in the works. Lets all just wait and see what happens...

Avsim developed a lot of enemies over the years. After they banned me and blocked all my IP's for posting links to A2A's B377 preview video I've had nothing good to say about the place, their moderators, or their moderation practices. The file library was good though.
