My regional train (looks like a tram and in fact it uses 600V rather than regular 3000volts). I live about 20 kilometers from the city center where I have my job and it is the fastest way to get there rather that stuck in the traffic jam.

My car is this little red Ford Ka:

Ka_01.jpg

Quite affordable, big enough for four adults and some luggage, or just one and a lot of luggage as I've tried during my move the last few weeks!
Fuel consumption is not that great, but it's just too much fun to drive fast! 1.3 liters and 70 hp may not sound like much, but in a car that weighs only 865 kilo's (1,900 pounds) it's more than enough.

Two bikes here; one old Giant Team World Cup ATB and this one which I use to go to work (But only when there's no chance of rain :icon_lol: ):

24 gears, led lights, front shock absorbers and one below the saddle. A very nice bike for longer recreational tours.

Commute:

depending on my luck is either 14WE:

or EN57:

Don't get cheated by different look, in fact both use the same chassis designed in '60s.

They look like F350 droppings. :engel016:

Just kidding, nice car. Is it gas or diesel? What kind of mileage?

Curious because they don't sell them in the USA and I am wondering what ford is holding out on us.

This "old" Ford Ka isn´t build anymore! It was a great sturdy, affordable little car and sold well. After studying design I did some color and trim studies on this model for the Ford company in Cologne! They rejected my work, but a while later similar scemes suddenly exsisted, ...my personal break up with Ford (my first car was a Ford Fiesta Mk1, fond memories):angryfir:

The follower up is build on the Fiat Panda/500 platform (a cooperation between Ford and Fiat) and is said to be of great quality. Seen quite a few around here allready. Sad they limit those models to the european market IMHO.

Regards
Alex

PS: If we show all our wheels, there´s a cruiser parked here also. Simmilar to the one in the pic, with a blue white paintsceme. Uncomfortable on long rides, but fun for little runs.

Mine is an old yellow Ford Ka! Didn't know there were other Ka lovers here. It's a great "ka", wonderful design, more interior space than you expect from such a small car. Love it still after many years.

We actually have two cars - a Peugeot 206 and Mrs P's FIAT Grande Punto (Grunau Baby will be pleased!:icon_lol:)

Both of them are perfectly good cars but because I work in Birmingham, which has naff all parking that costs the Earth to use, and because I am fighting a constant battle to keep my back injury in check, I prefer to walk and use the train instead of the car. I actually get a far more modern Chiltern Railways Class 169 Turbostar into work, but the pushing 30-year-old Class 150 Sprinters I linked to a photo of earlier are by far the staple of life on the Snow Hill/Moor Street lines.

I recently parked it next to some huge black pick-up at our local pet store, should have taken a photo.

It's a petrol engine. Four cylinders, eight valves, 70 hp. It's an updated version of the ancient 60 hp engine that powered the earlier Ka's. Fuel mileage isn't that good to be honest, because of this old engine and because I drive it too much for short distances. My lead foot doesn't help either. In the city I get about 30 mpg, but on longer drives I can get up to 50 mpg.

:)

Here it is. 1998 Buick Riviera. My baby. Can go zero to sixty in six seconds with a supercharged engine. I love it. It will be the last car I own.
It's got a smile on its face. - It just ate a Toyota.

One thing I have gotten from watching "Top Gear" is that here in the 'colonies' the cars we have just don't seem as cool or neat looking as what you all drive in Europe... Anybody else feel that way? Maybe I should move... Anyone in the U.K. or Germany wanna take in a family of four + annoying dog???? nobody? don't make have to try in France!!!!

I'll swap London with Springfield, Ohio any day of the week.

You get Top Gear over there? BBC America?
