The OZX Grumman Goose HD Redux Now Released!

yeahh. the uprightness is my fault.. it's caused because the stations listings in the blueprints are centered along the longitudinal axis. There really were no options for latitudinal placements, and when i tried the plane crashed on load up. However, the uprightness of it is an illusion. it disappears quickly when you throttle up and hit the rudder or ailerons.

Thanks for the quick response Pam! :jump:
It’s really no big deal; I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t something on my end. Thanks again for all the hard work you and your team put into this bird…it sure is a beauty. I only wish that Microsoft added a variation in FSX with fixed floats –for those of us Goose purists.

I wish that too.. Theres also a four engined version manufactured by McKennon (sp?) that uses four 256 horsepower lycomings. That could have been fun as well..

really wasnt aware of it Reddog, but i think that is totally awesome.. I love Bill Lyons work.

What No UnInstaller?

It looks like the installer used was the Clickteam software, which I also use. Why in heavens name did they compile (build) this without and un installer? I now have...Original FSX goose, version 1.0 and now 1.20, I
missed the "back up first" warning...(fine print somwhere)? anyway
I now have redundant version of this plane. It's nice but I have other
addons on my HD and the more addons you install, the longer FSX takes
to load up..... Is there some other way to delete say ver 1 and/or ver 1.20 without crippling FSX and taking out the orig FSX version...
What a tangled mess..... :blind:

I'm slightly surprised by your comments, as from more than 5000 downloads within a week you seem to be the only one having "this problem",
we did not alter the file structure from version 1.00 to 1.20,
so if you now have multiple installs, I'd say check your registry entry for fsX,
as that is the parameter used by the installer to install the package to your fsX file system.

I will send you a PM with a link for a "repair set" for your "Goose",
so you can "delete" the installed files, let's see if that solves your "problem"

As for why not making a Un-Installer, rather simple, the package makes that amount of changes to the "default" that it would render that unusable,
as you well know the files written to the system are the ones that get "deleted" by the Un-Installer action of the ClickTeam installer package.
Hence if you'd take out all the files we added and altered, the Goose would cease to work.

I hope this clarifies your questions,

with kindest regards,
the ...... that compiled the Installer
Wolter

THe first version did not have the backup warning but for the 1.20 version it actually states it right here:

http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=3237

In big red bold letters to back it up first. This is what it says:

WARNING!! IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU BACKUP YOUR OLD DEFAULT GOOSE, AS THE OZX GRUMMAN GOOSE HD REDUX WILL OVERWRITE CERTAIN FILES IN YOUR DEFAULT FOLDERS.

I do not particularly class that as fine print ;)

No, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info!

Although I really enjoyed flying Bill's model back when I was running FS9, the FSX Goose is hard to step away from!

I've just been to the NorCal site, but don't see it anywhere???

Playing around with Photoshop -This would have been nice to have...:mixedsmi:

I wonder if this variation was ever on the drawing board at Microsoft during development...maybe it's sitting in the recycle bin over there somewhere...:wiggle:

With Mr Lyons work being updated, and our work out as well, i cant help but wonder if anyone will step up to the plate and make either the four engined McKinnon goozse or the Turbo Goose.. then we'd have the entire goose family and it would just be so frikkin awesome.. :D

Thought you folks would like seeing this since we all like Gooses...

Yes the X one is nice I just prefer the looks of Lyon's Goose better. Really be nice to see the Widgeon done up for FSX too.

... I raised the empty weight up to 5496 pounds instead of 4,496 pounds because the float retraction unit adds a thousand pounds to the empty weight.

i didnt change anything with lift or drag because i worked those out using some calculators i found on martindales site.. I trust the numbers..

Glad your enjoying it..
Pam

I may have caused some confusion earlier in regard to the retractable floats.

The 1000 lb gross weight increase for the retractable floats isn't due to their installation adding weight to the aircraft, but rather is because when they are retracted they increase overall lift which allowed the FAA to raise the allowable gross weight by 1000 lbs. Of course this lift increase isn't there when the floats are down, so it doesn't help with Max TOW. I'm sure the retraction mechansim does add weight to the aircraft, but that was baked into the empty weight for the aircraft we modeled, so we didn't ever get data on what the delta was from stock to retracts.
