hi,
I am looking for a Tulagi base,just the basic gravel base landscape positioned corrrectly at its location.I have the flight simulator scenery creator but i just cant figure out how to use it,i also dont have the correct coordinates and heights.

I could be wrong but I don't beleive there ever was an airfield there. The Japanese had a seaplane base there until the U.S. took it from them and then I believe it was used as an allied seaplane base. There may be some kind of a modern field there now but I don't think it dates back to WW2.

Blondi is right, there never was an airbase there.The airbase was at Guadalcanal.There was also a PT Boat base there as well as it being used to protect DDs and supply ships.

FSSC is easy to use but you also need a good screen capture program and a good paint program.
 
Tulagi never had any airstrip but since 1942 japanese had there base for their floatplanes (RUFE and MAVIS) just until invasion of Guadalcanal by US. They use it as part of the plan to take Port Moresby.

that explains it then, when i google for info the USN was bombing MARU's etc etc,sea planes where beeing shot out of the sky so i presumed there was more to it.Do you have the coordinates or where to find them?i will then build a jap seaplane base with maru's,land base etc and upload later.thanks

BTW i will upload Rufes but no way the MAVIS it eats up half the FPS.
 
Tulagi is a small island just south of Florida island in the salomons. Coodrdinates? I'd have to look in cfs map cause haven't min. idea. Base should have been be located in north-east part of island (strait between tulagi and florida) but it just what I think. Don't know for sure.
 
I have done Henderson Field at Guadalcanal also Tulagi as well as the basic seaplane base there.I didn`t go into alot of detail at Tulagi because I only have one or two missions that come close to the area.If it is ok I will post some pics of what I have done.All my flying will be out of Guadalcanal.:d

In CFS2 it seems more like a cape than island, but only for confirmation there's also one Google Earth photo.

CFS 2 coordinates are S9 5.50' E160 8.77'

Look forward to your scenery Dog1. It would be great to fly jap.recon missions in Battle of Coral Sea.

thanks coordinates and pics,looking forward to see BOBHEGF pics and details.I'll try and find some jap pics maybe while working on the project.I have changed the flag on the islanders to simulate marus but if i can be a little patient we have usiohs maru's coming out soon.

Isn't Tulagi included in MR Solomons? I remember in one of my mission packs using his Solomon scenery and there was a seaplane base on Tulagi or some kind of base,it's been awhile since I've used it.

There is a MR base on the other side of the Florida Islands but It ain't Tulagi, bout 20 to 30 miles as the ZEKE flys.
 
Here are the pics of what I have redone again.The 1st group is henderson Field the second is Tulagi.The last is me landing after the photo recon mission.

It is probably unlikely that Rufes were there before the Coral Sea battle.The fighters encountered by USN pilots during Coral sea from that area were Pete's. Rufes may have been stationed there after Coral Sea until we took Tulagi later in the summer.

BTW during battle of coral sea, only MAvis were present at the base. US pilots maneged to smoke some of them in early stage of the battle.
Rufes presence were noticed only by the time of landing on Guadalcanal.
