Ito's FS9 Cougar is a very nice model to operate from carriers in f.ex the Fox-Four campaigns. It's not the easiest to paint, but once you have done the general template most of the work is done. So here are 7 more versions. Included are some improvements from my earlier Cougar uploads.

I have already done the Shooting-Star, Sabre, Mig15 and Sea-Fury, so the next, F-84 Thunderjet, is already in work...

F9 Couger

Look great Morton. It'll be a great addition to your original pack for the plane.

Have you considered the Aeroplane Heaven freeware F9F Panther for one of your projects?

or:

She's a great package and makes a great Korean War jet for carrier ops and comes CFS 2 ready.

I've got my fingers crossed that Wolfi will return to CFS 2 soon and post his version of the Panther as it promises to be another fine early jet fighter too.

Jagdflieger, i sure have looked at the AH panther. It's a very good CFS2 Panther. BUT, it's a nightmare to paint. I kind of given it up after several tries. It's just not mapped together for what i would like to do. So, i scanned the web for an alternative Panther. Fox-Four has one which i have been considering among others. I've been using too much time on different F9Fs already, so my heart stopped for a second reading your post about Wolfi's Panther. That would be just great! Lets hope.

Where did you get the F9F Cougar, I have been looking for one for a while and the only one I could find was for FS98 in Argentinian markings, is your repaint for a freeware or payware model?

Jim, download Mortons package, open up the zip and take a look at the readme it will explain the where's and what's as to the planes location etc.

Cheers! :ernae:

First thanks for your great Repaints, They work beautyful in FS 9, because I have not CFS 2, but what did you say to the old Panther from Daisuke Yamamoto http://www.simviation.com/fs2002military40.htm
or the old Freeware Alphasim Panther to repaint ?

Yes Franzi, i've looked at the Yamamoto F9F. Nothing wrong with that model. Nice VC also. But the main fuselage texture is mapped like a tube. Makes it hard to do the textures the way i want to. I think.
The Alphasim Panther? Where? Maybe too old model?

Hi Morton,

read Jagdflieger's reply above, the link is right there.

The model is not too old either, actually she's a beauty, for CFS2 and multi-res. You should check it out.

Cheers!

Kelticheart, i think i'm confused because we are mixing the Alphasim and Aeroplane Heaven here. Two different sites. I dont think Alphasim has done a Panther.? As for the AH-F9F read my post earlier.

Too bad about the Aeroplane Heaven Panther and its texture mapping. I suspected as much as there has not been any activity for repaints on it. I really like those old straight wing jets and CFS 2 handles them pretty well once you get the air file set up properly.

Strange as it may seem, Alphasim did make a Panther back in the FS 2000, early CFS 2 days. It makes for a pretty good AI aircraft and there are a few skins available for it. It's pretty dated now as a flyer's aircraft, but it's free and looks pretty good as an AI.

Search for Alpha_F9F-2_Panther.zip in the Outhouse library.

Me too Jagd. Then you will also like the F-84G Thunderjet. ;)

(I might give the AH panther a third try though...)

OOOOPS!

You're right! Alphasim and Aeroplane Heaven aren't the same place!

Jagdflieger is right, Alpha's model dates back to the beginning of 2002, but I agree it still makes a very good AI plane.

Sorry for the mixup!

Thunderjet

Just gotta love those straight wings! I'm looking forward to the new Thunderjet skins.

According to the US Air Force, the Thunderjet flew 60% of their ground attack missions in Korea.

By the way, the Thunderjet was part of Republic's stable of fighters conceived by Mr. Kartveli design team. P-43 Lancer, P-47 Thunderbolt, F-84 Thunderjet, F-84F Thunderstreak and finally the F-105 Thunderchief.
