I started this project for personal use with a couple of online friends and now that I have the photoreal parts in place and have a better idea of what is needed to take it further I wanted to see what interest there was in this.
Bascally there is limited sat imagery for Afghanistan, but luckily there is a big area around Kandahar city and Kandahar airport that is in decent resolution (16 zoom in SBX). On my part I did it in 15 parts to make blends easier and also to help with any autogen I might place. While this will appeal more to rotor enthusiasts, the area is big enough to hopefully provide a better experience to any fixed wing jockeys coming into OAKN. I plan on working on the airport, the existing ternimal in basic detail and many of the front line structures and such, but replacing "all" the photoreal details with objects isn't very feasible as it is just to busy, but I will do my best.
Still lots of work to do and I am open to suggestions but I just wanted to see what kind of interest there was in this since my FS9 basic Iraq scenery did very well in d/ls and I have gotten lots of emails asking for Afghanistan scenery for FSX.
