Just hope this does not cause a sh*t storm of responses.

The BN-2 Islander package has now been released by Flight One ! Head over to their site to get the download version, the boxed version will be available in due course. Some of you may have already realised the model package was rebranded as made by 'Virtavia', not AlphaSim. An explanation of this is overdue - Virtavia is a new Australian limited company which has emanted from AlphaSim, and which will soon have its own site and web store. The company is staffed by many of the AlphaSim contributors, as well as some new modellers. Virtavia's products will be premium FSX addons, similar in scope and quality to the BN-2 Islander, which will be sold directly from the Virtavia site, as well as selected titles through Flight One. We'll kick off the new site with an all-new B-1B package, which is already very close to completion. Like the B-1B, two other highly popular AlphaSim titles have also been radically overhauled into all-new packages for FSX, all include high-detail VCs, new textures, sounds, flight dynamics and some other new ideas such as special radars. These will be announced and displayed here and on the new site in due course. The forthcoming C-17 VC is now also being developed by the Virtavia team, as are several other, well-advanced and exciting projects - miltary and civil (current and classic), both fixed-wing and rotorcraft will all be covered. More information on these developments will be shown on the Virtavia site when it goes live in a week or two. The AlphaSim site will continue selling the majority of the products developed in the last few years, we also plan to update several of them and offer occasional free additional texture packs and freeware versions of the older titles from time to time. Support for AlphaSim products will continue for as long as they are sold.

I am still doing textures for them.

Looking forward to the releases.

Noddy,

Your thread was factual and newsworthy and therefore is welcome and should not cause any problems. Frankly, if it does, then it reflects more of those who caused the trouble than on anything you did.

Appreciate the update. :engel016:

Cheers,

Ken

It'll be very sad to see AlphaSim go. I personally have more AlphaSim payware titles than any other payware brand!

It was a unique offering... an exceptional balance of price and quality!

And unusual subjects to boot!

Ho hum

Kind regards

JR

I think Phil made the right move for his business; there's a lot more sales in the airliner/GA market and even more with boxsets which is probably why they made the deal with Flight1.
IIRC Flight1 pays a fixed price to the developer per model so any piracy affects Flight1, not the developer.
The name change is a good move too; the AS label is connected with low price, medium quality Fs9 releases and affects the opinion people have of their latest products (To put it mildly!).

sad to see alphasim go , but good to know that they are still operating under a new name , i really wann see an reworked fsx sea king , hope they update the alphasim sea king for fsx :)

This puts some doubts in my mind for a few different reason. I will not go in to that here though. If this is all legit and true, then I look forward to seeing what they can do. I am very happy with the BN-2 package as well as a lot of the higher quality Alphasim planes like the Blackhawk, T-34, and the like. I am wishing all the best for these guys because it seems that they have been dealt a pretty terrible hand these past few months.

Second that!

Seems Alphasim's days are numbered. Always enjoyed their products at reasonable price. Especially in the FS9 era i had a great load of AS aircraft in my hangar (past tence since my old puter with all payware and FS9 install has died on me recently).

Looking at the update at the AS site today, the AS owner made the statement like a real adult:ernae:. A big BIG salute for that. Hope AS will be able to offer old time products and service like i was used to in the future in some way. I sure feel sad after reading this particular news, though i give the guy's from Virtavia all benefits of the doubt since their BN-1 looks simply stunning!

Hope to a fast and high quality completed package of the C-17 as well, soon!:bump:

Phil, thanks for everything! please stay in business! :salute:

What would be awesome would be if they'd use the new company to do high-detail, premium products, but release mid-range, inexpensive military planes under the Alphasim label, as in days of old.

I certainly miss giving them my money for those. :)

This thread looks like it has no reason at all to go downhill. A fresh start under a new storefront can't hurt Alphasim. Noone has any reason to not give virtavia a chance.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before any possible lock. The seas are calm.

Is he planning on leaving it ?

I think a lot of people are mis-reading the intent of Phil's remarks. AlphaSim is not shutting down.

And I quote,

"The AlphaSim site will continue selling the majority of the products developed in the last few years, we also plan to update several of them and offer occasional free additional texture packs and freeware versions of the older titles from time to time."

Rest easy!

Did a search for the Vatavia website and doesn't appear to be up yet. If it's possible, can someone submit the hyperlink when they go active? I too have quite a few AS titles and would love to see a remake of the B-1B, not to mention completion of the C-17.

Virtavia site still a little ways off...B-1B being worked on, as is the C-17 VC. No timeframes.
