Moling: Can it be corrected?

There are a number of them, mostly earlier creations. Off the top of my head, the FS spitfires and FS BF109s have this issue, but there are others as well.
 
Simply a bit of editing, trial and error.
It's in the contact points, located in the Aircraft.cfg.

Just adjust the vertical entry, which 'should' be located at the wheel axle. There's another entry for the wheel radius, which affects the 'roll'. Check the wheel radius first, and make sure it's fairly accurate.

You'll also have to adjust the loading height.
 
But rememeber any chages will affect your ability to fly on line with the edited plane.
 
This may be beyond me. I took a look at the CFG file for fs_bf109e_35v2, as an example of an aircraft I've seen "mole". While there is a category entitled contact points, there are no subheadings for verticle entry, wheel axis, etc. Just point.0 to point.11 with a series of numbers following them. And I have no idea what is meant by being "located" or how to make sure the wheel radius is "accurate".

I guess I'll leave well enough alone.

I think he's talking about those planes that are stuck in the mud at center line as AI. nothing one can do in the cfg file since this is a model issue, something about tagging the c_wheel correctly in Gmax. It can only be fixed in the original source file.
IIRC Corrado had a bdp fix for it for some planes but his site is unfortunately gone.

Mathias what in the .bdp could effect the static height of an aircraft? I mean it's just a record of the xpd and I can't think of anything in the xpd that can change aircraft height. Although you can not fix moling with the aircraft config. You can fix spawn hopping by adjusting the fourth number set over in the first three lines of the contact points. The numbers in red are the center wheel (1st line) and the left and right wheels (2nd & 3rd line). Adjusting this will be the actual height of the aircraft wheels in relation to the ground. The static height and pitch in blue, is the height and pitch the aircraft initially spawns at but quickly moves (hops) to
the match the height designated in contact lines 1,2 and 3, if it does not match. If it does there will be no movement in the aircraft when it spawns upon selection.

Not quite correct, it also stores data from the m3d such as damage boxes and aircraft system data such as the dreaded c_gear node which usually is source of the moling issue.
How exactly Corrado drew the line to the bdp I don't know,
that it's about m3d data is a fact, it was me who found out about it back then and who told the fellow modellers how to fix it so just take my word on it. :costumes:
 
Ok Mathias I will take your word for it, because you typically know what you're taliking about! Can you hack the .bdp and identify the C_node text to delete or change it?

Sorry no, I know how to fix it in the source file
but I have no clue how Corrado did that bdp hack.

You'll find the is4g moling fixes at http://web.archive.org/web/20070514132754/www.isoliti4gatti.com/misc.htm

If you end up following a link and get to the ppc site that replaced is4g, then edit the URL to replace the date (20070514132754 above) with a "*" character. That will give you a list of all available versions of the page, then you can get what you want through trial and error.

I guess you might be able to work out what changed by comparing the files provided by Corrado with the originals?

Hehe, that's a fairly new one, custom shop historic collection 2004 with a fat mid 50th neck shape. Also got an Explorer and '97 collector's edition Stratocaster which I all use regularly on stage.
Not listing the trash here that I've collected over the years.:costumes:
Used to have a true pre CBS Jazzmaster, sold it for good bucks some years ago.:d
 
NWP: Thank you but can you clear up the instructions. How do I get to a page from which I can download the mole fix? No matter what I do, I get a message which basically tells me the page cannot be located.

It doesn't cover many aircraft but maybe somebody can reverse engineer these so we can fix any aircraft that have this tendency to look for earthworms!

Since it is a BDP fix I'm guessing you will have to replace it whenever you use the BDP nuker.
