<o:p>Here is another one from me.
<o:p></o:p>
Beside the first batch of 24 Hawk 75A-6 fighters of which most were captured by the Germans during the invasion of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Norway</st1:place></st1:country-region> in April 1940, 36 Cyclone-powered Hawk 75A-8s were also ordered. Most of this batch was delivered as advanced trainers to the Norwegian training base "Little Norway" near <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Toronto</st1:City>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Canada</st1:country-region></st1:place>. In 1943 they were resold to the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region> and redesignated as P-36G.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
This repaint is of Hawk 75A-8 “443” (cn 14567) as it looked during service in “Little Norway” during the years 1941-43. The aircraft was later sold to the <st1:country-region w:st="on">US</st1:country-region> and then to <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Peru</st1:place></st1:country-region>.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Of interest is the strange green/yellow colour which was called “Apple green”, it should be close to the zinc chromate primer colour. All moving surfaces are in silver dope. <o:p></o:p>

That is just one beautiful paint job! Outstanding!!!!!!!:ernae:

for thos of you which want to take the Norwegian Hawk back to camp "Little Norway", the current name of the airport is "Toronto city centre airport". The Toronto skyline has definetly changed a lot since the 40's, but still a nice place for Hawk training :)

Mal, Have startes on the Cleveland Air Race scheme for '69', 27th PS, 1st PG, Cleveland 1939. (Colours taken from spec 14057-B, standards for Temporary camoflage paints Mar 1938).

Bruce,

Perhaps this site can help you: http://www.jpsmodell.de/katalog/jpsusww2_e.htm

According my information the used colours for these schemes were colour 25 till 35. The 69 was most probably sprayed in white 25 - sand 26 and dark green 30 or dark olive drab 31. Which in my opinion look a bit different than the colours you used.

Some aircraft were sprayed in a very "kinky scheme" using the colours white -25, sand 26 - Dark Blue 29 - Dark purple 32 and Neutral grey 33!

The water based camouflage paint was sprayed on the aircraft, however Curtiss used pre-cut masks, which resulted in quite sharp colour demarcations, as is visible on most pictures of these aircrafts.

When you need the "Eagle marking" just send me a PM as I have it in Photoshop format already, as I wanted to use it on the ex-donationware P-36.

Cheers,
Huub
