Beanzawave is the name of this brand new USB-powered gadget from the American food company Heinz. It is the world’s smallest, portable microwave oven. Would you buy it?

Here's the link if you want to read more on it: http://www.geekalerts.com/usb-microwave-oven/

....Unless it can nuke a full sized bag of microwave popcorn,....there's definitely no point in buying it....

I have one thats been sitting in storage for years. If there going to sell toy microwaves maybe the oven will make a comeback.

.
If it came with a 12V adapter & was reasonably priced then I'd consider it. Could use exactly
that in my minivan. Would use it to heat water for coffee & teas as well as nuke a 'tater now & then.
..

It is cute, and perhaps there is a good use with RV's and campers..

But I have to go with the Easy Bake Oven thing, looks like a nice
toy for a child..

Oh, and I miss my little sister's easy bake oven too..
Who do you think got to eat all those cupcakes...:jump:
May have run over and see if She still rememebers how to make those..:jump:

Hobbits and food go together very well..Cakes, Pies and Cookies are a favorite...:jump:

So, just how much battery power would it drain out of your laptop???

And one article says maybe you can heat up a snack while flying??? I'm sorry, but I have my doubts that the FAA will ever allow a microwave emitter to ever be used in a plane when there is so much dependence on radar and such.

Oh Terry! You brought back some great childhood memories for me! I LOVED my Easy Bake Oven!

My little sister's bake oven didn't work too well on my mud pies. But, it sure got MY bottom warmed when my dad came hone.

Tattletales! :angryfir:

Oh yeah! I was thinking just the other day that the one thing my long stints sitting in front of the computer were lacking was beans. :redfire:

Pretty cool! This could keep my coffee warm! Thanks for the heads up C9G.

:ernae: <--- cups of steaming hot coffee

doesn't look big enough to nuke a cup of water...:173go1:

My thinking is with Lionheart here - I don't know how many times my coffee/tea has gone cold when I've been caught up with something at work. A small microwave like that would be perfect! If it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'll probably buy one if it ever comes out.

This has to be a joke surely? I didn't think USB could deliver enough power for anything like that.....?

EDIT: I take it back:

"Apart from its size, the key breakthrough is the use of a combination of mobile phone radio frequencies to create the heat to cook both on the outside and within in under a minute.

Mr Andrews, the managing director of GAMA Microwave Technology, said it is possible to 'tune' the radio-frequencies to provide the best results with any small product.

'It is possible to heat a pie, a burger, a cup of soup or tea in quick time,' he said."

Don't know how many people would be happy with their colleagues chomping away on baked beans all day though. Unless you have good ventilation.

This probably harks back to the youtube videos of people cooking popcorn with there mobile phones....

Personally I like the idea of this version....hahahhahaha:
