I'm willing to bet that a representative of FCS will not respond to this post. That thing looks ugly!!

I took a look at the name (a certain Mr D Chester of Fs9 payware VC10/Trident fame) involved in this and gave it a wide berth! Looks like I was right to do so, it is shoddy even if it were freeware, in today's world.

you mean to tell me that you guys actually bought this? Paid money for it?
:redf:Yeah i Jan , i,m so embarrassed , I just had to get the word out , i was customer 175 .

No, those are the same tiles they apply to the outside of the space shuttle to protect it against heat. Those Sunderlands are a lot faster than they look!

Just installed Stuart Green's ancient (In computer terms) CFS2/FS2004 Sunderland in FsX and that model still looks better! It only needs the gauges replaced (Won't load with the ones that come with it) and the prop textures fixed to reduce the cloud issue.

It's a real shame as I was really looking forward to a native Sunderland. I wonder if the majority of the external issues are related to the bump maps? I'd be interested to see how it looks with the bumps removed.

I think it might help with some, but the horror of those last 3 shots.. I don't think so..

I wonder how it is textured? Are the wings and fuselage straightforward or do they use a number of different textures? If the model is considered to be not beyond redemption (and I am not sure having looked at the pics), and the texturing is fairly straightforward, then maybe I could have a look at doing a repaint?

I always liked the Sunderland.

But I think you would still have to buy a copy, I do not think there is a free paint kit Paul.

The VC10 and Trident were of similar standard and (years ago) much protesting came from the designer because of similar comments (to this thread) were made by the freeware team at CBFS who made free versions to a much greater accuracy.

I wouldn't bother. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Look at the head-on shot; the fuselage isn't even symmetrical. And yes, you'd have to buy a copy...even software pirates have standards.

As you might guess, there is no way that I will be buying this particular Sunderland! :icon_lol:

I've purchased a couple add ons from FCS. After I've already seen in-sim snaps because I was not taking the plunge. I've mentioned this in another related post. I'll say it again here.

The fact that they do not display pictures that show anything of any size should tell the potential customer something. They show you just enough to get you real curious. Next thing you know, a post of this nature arises somewhere with an unhappy customer that got suckered into buying a shotty product. Unfortunately, there were many before you bought yours. I say, contact them. Tell them you want your money back. If they decline, spread the word :173go1:

At the risk of defending them... the VC shot of the wing may not be that far off - the wing root actually is under the cockpit, and the white bit under the engine might be the "missing" float. The wing is, however, either too far back or missing the inboard engine, which should be blocking most of that view, from what I can see.
