B-26B MTO Resources -- Great Book and Web site

For those that like reading about the history of the B-26B/C in the Med, a great book is

Osprey Combat Aircraft 73, B-26 Marauder Units of the MTO by Mark Styling.

Also, the following web site is great. The 320thbg was one of the operators of B-26s in the MTO. On the photos page are some bomb damage assessment pictures from Italy in 1944. These guys were good at what they did.

Hi Radioman
your Marauder is the best on all aspects.
A little problem though: what's wrong with the sky appearing on the boxes around these two gauges in the VC ??
Anyone else has this ?

Mine looks ok. On gauges, I replaced the DC-3 gauges with A2A P-51H and B-24 ones...

Radioman123,

Just had to drop a thank you note for creating this awesome historic plane! It looks great, and it's seriously fun and challenging to fly. Been messing around with engine failures, and wow, what a challenge.

You may want to try a run away prop governor on the left engine which was the most common failure on take off. The prop would change to fine pitch and the RPMs would go way up. Would make life very interesting at about 140 miles per hour.

Hi,

I downloaded the aircraft and am very impressed. I experienced no transparency problems. From my ignorant perspective, creating an aircraft simulation such as this borders on black magic. As such I've noticed some small problems and I don't know if correcting them is a simple matter or an impossible task. I did a little tweaking of the several things such as the checklist, cameras and eyepoint. I reset the eyepoint so it's centered on the yoke thereby improving my forward visibility and swapped a couple of gauges to make them more visible from the new location.
Here are several things that I noticed that I'd like to change but don't have the slightest idea of how to. With the parking brake set and engines idling there's a slight rotation of the aircraft. If I release the parking brake the rotation stops. I've never noticed this on any other aircraft. Once I've shut down the engines the only way I've been able to restart is with Ctrl + E. By clicking and dragging on the left prop and mixture levers (not the knobs) both levers move but only the left settings are changed. Clicking and dragging the right levers changes the settings without any visible indication. The pitch trim wheel only shows movement for a small range when zero pitch is crossed; dragging the wheel continues to change pitch but without any visible change.
I tried out several changes posted in this thread to the sound and panel files but decided to stick with the aircraft as downloaded.
If anyone has any insight as to the anomalies I noticed I would appreciate hearing it.
And to the creator of this aircraft thanks and you have my sincerest admiration.

You must be in Dx10 mode Italo. The gauge holders seem to have non-FsX material in them. Doesn't bother me as I don't use Dx10 any more.

The aircraft was nnt tested in Dx10 mode as the development machine is an older machine. I could not duplicate the issuewith the transparent gauges. It may be beneficial to do a gauge swap for those 2 gauges with similar gauges that does not have that problem.

QUOTE=Is that Sky on the face plate of those Instruments, or the FSX start up screen picture? It loooks like it says "flight Simulator" backwards and upside down.

Yes Bone
it"s like you said

OK Radioman it's clear now: no problem; I'll try to swap with other gauges DX10 compatibles.
Anyway, except for this very minor issue, your Marauder is perfectly DX10 compatible (she does'nt even suffer of the well known DX10 compatibility problems with prop and glass)

Let's go to fly now and thank again for your outstanding modeling

Wonderful B-26 with a minor problem!!!

My freeware MS FSX SP2/A Martin B-26B/C Marauder has been posted at SOH under FSX/
American Aircraft.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category FSX American Aircraft

Description: FSX SP2/A B-26C-11-MO 41-18322 modeled as Hell's Belle II of the 439th BS/319BG based in Sardinia in 1944. This aircraft was from the 12th Air Force, 319th Bomb Group (Medium), 439 Bomb Squadron based in Rufisque French West Africa, Tafaraoui, Algeria (outside of Oran), Maison Blanche, Algeria (outside of Algers), Dejedeida, Tunisia (outside of Tunis) and Decimomannu, Sardinia (outside of Cagliari) in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. She flew over one hundred missions between June 1943 and November 1944 in North Africa, Italy and southern France. Her first crew was led by Lt. J. H. Logan but was flown by other crews.

This aircraft is a native code FSX SP2/A aircraft created by W. E. Stephens. The pilot character "Pilotpfc" was originally created by David Eckert.

Have fun

I installed your marvelous bB-26 but it has a problem... what causes the prop blurr to show up black?????????? (see enclosed jpg)View attachment 34244

B-26 prop blurr

Radioman123,

I hope you don't mind, but I altered the original package so that it contains the missing prop textures, rather than approving a fix.

Dear Rami,
Where did you post this new prop blurr file????

Hi,

It's my understanding that it's included in the latest download. I downloaded the file rather late and experienced none of the transparency problems.
