Message to Zsoltquack

Thank you "Zsoltquack" for your Hungarian Air Force "Alu" Mig-21MF repaint.

Do you plan any "Camo" Hungarian Air Force Mig-21MF repaint ?

Firstly with the cold war era Hungarian Star ?
Secondly with the new "delta pennant" national markings ?

Thanks in advance !

So I actually had time to sit and install this repaint ... and had issues. When I installed it, the plane was lacking a bunch of "shared" textures - canopy, landing gear etc.

Whereas all the stock textures Ivan released, as well as the repaints Zsolt did - have ALL the shared textures included in each folder, this one by Francis Jacquet is only 6 .dds files.

I reasoned "ok - just go to one of these folders (eg: texture.topgun, copy over all the files into the texture.blue30 folder, and not overwrite anything. That's a common thing to do. But when I did that, only the topgun textures show. To make sure there was no accidental overwrite, I again copied the contents of the blue30 zip into the texture.blue30, overwriting when asked - and still no go. Still showing Topgun.

Utterly strange ... thoughts?

I'm curious as to what has changed. I haven't found any problems flying this plane so far.......

Does this update make it easier or harder to land? Increase the top speed?

need a few more details if possible.

I installed the Blue 30 package last night which included the Bob Chicilo flight model update sans 2D panel. I was testing out my Yugoslav AF textures and I have to say it was one of those "wow" moments. I don't know if the flight model is too easy now or what but it sure was great fun. Coming out of a climbing loop above the clouds and rolling level with a couple Alphids under the wings and centerline tank was just a beautiful sight. For me those moments are usually reserved for something Mirage related but I've got to say that this is one nice model. :icon_lol:

Now if she just had traditional Atolls in the weapons mix it would be perfect.

I believe it is because this download only includes the textures actually required for the new repaint. If everyone did that the downloads would be much smaller. So the easiest solution is to add a "texture.cfg" file to the "texture.blue30" folder that contains:

Code:
[fltsim]
fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
This is related to hschuit's post back on page 5 of this thread about sorting out the folders into what is common to all repaints and what is unique.

Hope this helps.

Hello Frank - really appreciate the response - away from my sim pc for another day or so whilst on business.

I get (and agree with) the common texture thing ... so you're saying if I create a common textures folder (called texture.share or something) and then add to those files identified by hschuit, and then in the additional repaint(s) add in the texture.cfg, that it should work? I assume it will work even if I leave the shared files in their original (.bmp) format - don't have a texture conversion program.

Thanks,

dl

You can just consider the original "texture" folder that came with the aircraft to be the "common" folder. All you need to do is make sure there is a "texture.cfg" file as described above in any individual aircraft texture folder that doesn't include all the files. The vast majority have been zipped up to include everything including the kitchen sink so it's seldom an issue. The Blue30 was one exception so far.

File format won't matter (hopefully the painter tested them once in FSX :icon_lol:).

I honestly fail to see what you're on about with the FDE. Top speed may be wrong, I didn't test it, but remember this is russian and speeds are not in knots. They are in kilometers per hour, for wich a landing at 280 for a (almost delta wing) fighter jet is just about fine.

Number 2, you can't use 100% external fuel, as I suppose that's for all the three tanks, and that's just too heavy, so 1 tank = 33.3% or something like that, you do the math. A more detailed weight configuration would be very welcome, including asymmetrical distribution for tanks and ordinance.

Nice repaints coming through, by the way!

EDIT: No, it doesn't go fast enough, all I got was mach 1.4...

+1
