Possible; but it will be a first time if it does.

Usually, every second version releases major changes; and Windows 8 is no exception. The next version fine tunes the previous version, and adds new features:

Windows 1.0 - new
Windows 2.0
Windows 2.1 - major changes; split out to Windows/286 and Windows/386
Windows 3.0 - major changes
Windows 3.1
Windows 95 - major changes
Windows 98
Windows 2000 - major changes
Windows XP - major chainges (had a long gestation period, and combined Windows 2000 with Windows NT.)
Windows Vista - major changes
Windows 7
Windows 8 - major changes (more COM based, merging of the desktop and handheld operating systems and interfaces, just to name two)

Eight? 8? I haven't got a computer that has 7 on it yet! Guess this means I gotta get a new computer? Yeah, that's the ticket......:icon_lol:

Nawwwwww, no need. If you wait long enough MS will cycle back to XP finally realising they made a mistake. ;)

Boy I hope that this happens. I am still stuck with XP and it finally started to do what I want it to do, provided that I don't get too cocky.....:kilroy:
And all my flight sims run on it and MS Office 2003 too. Come to think of it, my computer is a Dell vintage 2003 XPS Gen 2. Everything works, I am not going to get involved with Widows (No, this is not misspelled) 7 & 8.......:icon_lol:
 
I might go to Win 7 Kofs only because of DirectX 10 &11. But that will be on my second computer that needs a total rebuild. Yeah more money spent but for a couple of sims I have, but going to Win 7 64 bit might be a good thing for them. SH5 and Cliffs of Dover being those two sims. This time I'll go with an i7 CPU and they need all the power recommended.

Windows 8 will probably be a long time coming...... I hope.
 
XP still runs fine for me and the only sims I have installed are FS9 and CFS2. As long as this old comp will hang in there, I'll stay where I'm at.
 
When my Mother board died several months ago, the Tech guys rebuilt my new system with Windows 7 32-bit ( had Vista before that ).

I've not had any problems and it's an improvement over Vista.

But I won't be upgrading to Win 8 any time soon.

I have been working fine with Windows XP for many years. I saw Windows 7 at my workplace and everyone says it's great, but I don't like to fix what is not broken. In my opinion it has got too many "bells and whistles" which makes it stressful to use.

I think I will see this Windows 8 come and go and I will still have a trusty XP. :icon_lol:
 
XP is a total disaster these days. Aren't even using it anymore at work... :mixedsmi:

W7 64 is pretty solid. I have no intentions of moving to 8 for a long time. Certainly not on the computer I have now.

I wish I could get away with just Linux...

I'll tell the truth, I only have used it a little bit. I don't blame Windows 7 for this, it's just that for me, I find it stressful. Too many "moving parts", I think...

Maybe it's only because I am accustom to it, but Windows XP it seems more "simple" and practical than W7. It sounds strange to say it, but it's "too many features" and I feel like I have to learn everything from zero again.

I'll give you that. It took me a while to get used to the new W7 taskbar. Now that I'm used to it, I find it to be pretty intuitive. The major difference between W7 and XP for everyday users is how the Documents folder is structured.

I forget not everyone works with computers all day. Working in IT is making me such a geek... :redf:

Yes it dose and my Win 7 PC has stange 30 sec "pause ups" I'll be doing somthing on the web and get a "pause ups". Nothing will work. No Ctrl Alt Del or any thing like that will work. After a bit it will un-pause and if you were typing it would finish it or had Ctrl Alt Deled to try and see what was wrong it would do it. It also won't come out of sleep mode some times.

Been this way since day 1.
 
Ok, i have a touchscreen all in one thst within the wee limits of its capabilities isnt bad, but, I really dont like windows 8 at all.. it looks and feels exactly like XBox or PS3. Its like they are trying to be subtle about brainwashing everyone into buying terminals and keeping all their personal files on some cloud somewhere.. That most definitely is not something i will ever do..
 
I remember reading an article somewhere about 8 and how MS said it wasn't going to be made by the consumer using ideas from the consumer, like their ad stated about 7 before it came out.. All I could think was, great that means were going back to Vista as far as MS is concerned!!

I like Windows 7 and what it has done as a replacement for Vista, but I still use XP on this computer and probably will until the day I decide to retire it..
 
I have worked some with Win 7 and I still use XP for my computer.. I don't have the funds to upgrade to a newer computer so I can get Win 7.
And for my use XP is fine to be honest..
