Macchi MC.202 "Folgore" now released!

Beautiful looking birds. The Italians had a flair for designing pretty aircraft then, oddly enough in aircraft of that era the flair for design seems to have deserted the French, since recovered in the jet age of course (before I get flamed). Phew! cool recovery there. lol

Oh, I don't know....those 'tween the wars French planes had an odd sort of Gallic "charm"...

mvg3d,
Absolutely stunning work!

I cannot wait to get in it myself! I could see a few MTO missions coming forth with that one flying around!

Good evening,

I agree, the screenshots look spectacular. I also find this aircraft interesting for another reason. Not only was it the relative equal of the Spitfire Mk. V and the Messerschmitt Bf-109f, Mario Castoldi (the designer) actually foresaw this in the original design, and it was only a compromise that the Macchi Mc-200 (Saetta) came into being, because the license-built Daimler-Benz 600-series engine was not ready.

Castoldi also had an interesting technique to counteract propeller torque...he extended the left wing of both the Saetta and the Folgore some 21 centimeters, (about 8.5 inches) which went a long way toward solving the problem.

Good work, I love the virtual cockpit!...

I'm looking forward to fly this beautifull aircraft
