• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

It's time for the bull to go.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm thinking the BS smilie needs to take a hike. Just today, I've seen it used in two ugly posts, one railing against a developer, and one personally attacking a respected forum member. I'm sure that somebody thought it was cute to add, but its very existence seems to be dragging this forum into the muck. What's next, an emoticon of someone getting shot in the head? How about one of someone kicking an old lady into traffic?

Just my two cents.

Well, the one who abused it is now history, thanks to being silly enough to mouth off to an Administrator... :ernae:

Glad that justice was swift. I had this very subject on my mind so I'll throw my hat in the ring with Spotlope et al... the bovine needs to take "the long walk"!

Dang, I missed whatever you guys are talking about...but i agree, this forum seems to hold its self to a higher standard than most, and I too have seen that emoticon misused in many a post.
Plus, it's kinda disgusting...

This forum and the FFDS forum are the only ones I visit on a regular basis just because they are not full of B---.

Cheers, Paul

RANT MODE ON: Why put that as a smilie for? Its not good for the reputation of SOH.

SOH is one of the best forums that I been involved with in my short time being on here. Also you dont need swearing on forums. RANT MODE: OFF

really guys? I kinda like it. It's a nice way of dogging something in a more friendly way. Just because it's powers have been used for evil instead of good sometimes doesn't mean it's all bad. I've seen it used several times to properly convey the humor of a situation without it being aimed at anyone's feelings.

Good lord, no. In fact, nothing will stop some people from being completely disagreeable. My thought was just that by having an emoticon like that, we're encouraging exactly the kind of behavior that some of us hate on other forums. I mean, if the cow stays, why not go the full distance and have a "f&$# you" emoticon as well? You see what I'm saying. There's always gonna be graffiti - that doesn't mean we have to hand out free spray paint.

great point.

Best wishes

I'd be happy to see the bull go too. It's not just the FSX forum. I noticed a downturn in one of the other forums when the bull was introduced a few weeks ago.

There is a huge difference between actually saying $#@% you and saying that's bullcrap, and the huge difference is still there if we had icons for both. We can rid this webpage of the bullcrap smiley, but we don't need to convince ourselves that it's more than it is. That's all I'm saying. That's like a strict town finally allowing knives, and stepping in to say something like "What's next, bazookas?! OMG!! We're all doomed!!"

That bull was introduced in good time as there have been a lot of products recently that are just not being launched without proper testing and with limited screenshots on their product pages.

Its sensorship again coming in now. Next we wont be able to say that a product is bad.

I depend on the honest findings of the good people who frequent this forum to spot issues with products hopefully before i buy them. If we can only say nice things (and i would guess that well over 80% of the posts do so) then SOH will lose something important. Integrity.

both by the same person ;) I dont think its doing any damage at all, its just a smilie folks, i havnt seen it used all that much in any case and i dont find it disgusting, but then i've got 2 dogs and live near a farm so ... :icon_lol:

someone getting shot in the head?

well we can do someone getting shot: :blind: :sniper:

someone dancing: :tgun2::jump:

someone shooting down what looks like the hindinburg to me but then again might be a chilly: :tgun2::ichile:

and of course theres the classic laughing at someone, which might hurt their feelings and ruining their self confedense and thus stop them from following their dreams which end up to finding the cure for cancer: :p87:

just haveing a laugh dont take it as insulting :ernae:
