Flying Stations Sea Fury released(payware) 17May12

Pete, just for the record, I see and 'feel' the same thing you do with the throttle. Of course it has no problems getting up to speed and flying (at very good speeds too), but it takes quite a bit of throttle to get the aircraft going/taxiing around. There's not much issue with that, other than being 'different'.

Agreed my thoughts also John, but it's just always when you need that fine control on carrier approches that I'm finding it's causing me problems, still I have to point out what an outstanding model this is and I absolutely love the flight model especially, it really does feel more like a Jet than a "Prop" in more ways than one.

Real Air Spitfire Prop Alpha

Roger (or anyone else that change the prop texture for the Spitfire Prop Alpha):

I must have not done my substitution like you did, because I don't see what you have shown. I saved my Sea Fury prop texture file, and then substituted my RealAir Spit Mk. IV texure "Prop_F.dds" (renamed of course). I see a number of yellow circles down near the prop hub, and other things that did not show in your screen-shot. Will you please tell me how you did yours. Bill
 
Good call on the prop chaps.

Spent a nice 1/2 hour in the Fury last night, and good job all round on the model. :salute:

I would need a bit of advise here. I have downloaded and installed these sounds, and it works.
However, I didn't dare to modify the Piston_Engine section of the aircraft.cfg as recommended in the readme of the sound package, because I was afraid to modify the performances of the plane.

In my current situation, I have now the new sounds in the sim for the Fury. However, the engine sound from the cockpit is still quite low, not impressive at all. From the external view, it's not too loud either but much better nevertheless. The only disturbing thing is that the "idle engine" sound can be heard as soon as the throttle are lower than 50%, which seems a bit too soon for me. Would the modification of the aircraft.cfg alter the behavior of the sounds ?

Changing the Piston engine section will make a difference as the Sea fury has a supercharger section not a turbocharger which is disabled In the Flying Stations Sea Fury.

What you decide to do is up to you, changing the Piston engine section may well mess the whole thing up, The Sea Fury as downloaded is set to work with the supercharger controlled by Centaurus.dll.

I did not make any piston engine mods that came with the Bristol sound set, just backed-up the original Fury sound folder, and directly added the Bristol sound folder. All seems fine in operation.
 
Yes like Rich said, the main difference is the turbocharger and supercharger sections. Best to keep the models settings for those. The other items are relatively small changes , hard to know if they make any significant changes, I would ignore the mods that come withe sound set and keep the original model configuration. It'll be much easier to compare with other people flying the Sea Fury and if any updates are released, it will still be compatible.

I agree these sounds aren't perfect either, especially for the volume in cockpit, it's just a choice.

As for throttle settings vs sound and power response, that's another discussion entirely.
 
Well, I just wanted to check if these modifications would impact in any way the sounds of the airplane in the VC, that's all :)
 
Yeah it'll ruin the best and most detailed Seafury model made for any sim ever to date haha! But ... The sounds are much better, I thought they sounded great, but it's for a completely different model of the Fury anyway or do I just sound like a complete knob lol?;)

+1 on using the BritSim sounds but leaving the aircraft.cfg well alone - the [PISTON ENGINE] settings with the new soundset didn't give enough boost to take off and stay airborne. Going back to the original .cfg restored the throttle response to normal. I'm keeping the new sounds for now - the fly-by sound is spine-tingling!
