By the way. I know this is a long-shot, but how is your Castillian Spanish? I assume this would be the correct dialect for the Spanish Civil War? Anyone? Xavier, any ideas?

Erufle.. when we use the term Spanish castillian we use only in spain to differentiate from the rest of 4 languages spoken in the country, Basc, Catalan, and Galician (similar to portugues), but Castillian and Spain are two terms ro refer to the same language.
I hope it helps...

Ha !!

...I can do the hill billy recordings, and Pig Latin as well. Not sure if there would be great demand for those "languages", but I am willing to do my part for this project...

Dang it Tim ~ I'm having Blue Cross send YOU the bill for these laugh-busted ribs !!!

I'm sure everyone here at the outhouse thanks you for your participation Maulet. I am not really concerned about the dialect that is used. I just want to make all of the purists happy. You know, those who complain when things are not perfect. The aircraft modelers call them "rivet counters". On the other hand, I am sure that your Spanish sounds somewhat different from mine. In this part of the States we have a lot of people who speak both Spanish and English. Sometimes the two languages become fused together to create a dialect called "Spanglish". This, I admit, would not be right for a Spanish Civil War simulation. Nothing to worry about here. I look forward to working with you. :friday:

But it better be DAMMED FUNNY. And be patient. Such a project would definitely not be a priority. :focus:

Great work Peperez! Could you by chance translate the files for me? I know the names of the files give some clue as to the meaning, but I probably need to do a lot of editing if I decide to use some of these files so I need a word for word translation. If not maybe Dandolo will see this, download the files, and then translate them for me.

By the way. I know this is a long-shot, but how is your Castillian Spanish? I assume this would be the correct dialect for the Spanish Civil War? Anyone? Xavier, any ideas?

:help:

To be truthfull, at Spain there was almost no radio communications. Only Germans used it. You need a Soviet pack if you wish to put them at the Civil War package. I gave a look to the Italian pack. First of all, the files names are in English and fits exactly the British description but they need to be complemented to fit all CFS2 universe, a task for Dandolo or Kelticheart. There's another problem: some of them are bigger than the newer files collected, so, they can not fit at the GVR package. They need to be edicted. The last issue is that the author e-mail file is not valid anymore. We need to contact the author that lives in Milano (I know it's a huge city, I visited it when I came back from Taiwan). That's another work for our Italian friends.

Cheers

Pepe

Peperez.. It is hard to believe what you say about radio communications in the civil war... I am going to make some research...

hello to everybodies,
i have downloaded the files from "barone rotto" and i have verified that the radio callings are the translations of fvb_brit_radio_calls( to say the truth there are same message that i am not able to understand because of they are a slang or italian northen dialect . There are also same " no polite " expressions but i must say they are very funny and used by military pilot ).
so i could translate and realize a table to understand the connection.
As i said to Erufle, the work i have begin to realize and sent to Him is a temptative and, listening Barone Rotto site's downloaded files , my temptative is just the same radio callings with a different voice.
Anyway , if it is considered usefull i can go on my work because i would to do something for this comunity and not only to download.:wiggle:
I am here and , according to my free time , i shall spend my lonely evening recording italian radio comms.
Have a holy Easter .:engel016:
Arrivederci

Dandolo's recordings of bri01 sound great and should be absolutely outstanding after I add the static and edit them for fit. I await Maulet's Spanish and Shadow Wolf's Russian files with eager anticipation. Each person helping to record these files will help me critique the final product, but I need one or two more people to help in this regard.

Who wants to get a copy of the first file, ita01, for critiquing purposes? Specifically, I need feedback on the level of radio static. Do I need to increase the level of static or decrease it? Do the audio files play when they should, and so on? Ita01 is mostly wingman commands: ATTACK!, GET 'EM, SHOOT 'EM UP, FORM UP, ON MY WING, ETC. These are easy to listen to by giving the commands as you play the sim. You can also listen to them using Martin Wright's Split GVR program.

Who will help? Ita01 should be done within the next few days if not today. Send me your e-mail via PM.

...and I won't be able to get to them (the RU) 'till next weekend, but I'll get them done. No problem linguistically but I'm tied up with studying for a new position and my daughter's spring break visit.

Don't feel pressured. That's why I am asking for as many people as possible to make and send me the recordings. I don't have much time for this either. Slowly but surely . . .

But, like Dandolo I feel like it is high time I contributed to this community.

Remember, Dandolo...

A lot of RSI pilots were nothern people... May be you can get us two Italian pack, one for RA and CB forces and another for RSI.

Cheers

Pepe

Hello Peperez, i do not know the meaning of RA and Cb.
Anyway, in spite i am italian i am not sure if italian RSI pilots were from north or south of Italy. I know they were fascisti and nothing else.My country was divided in that time and who wanted to fight for his faith, run to join fascit or cobelligerant troops.
About the italian spoken in radio calling flles, i suppose it is connected with who have recorded them. Believe me, some expressions are not connected to RSI , they are just of our days.
As i wrote to erufle, my pronunciation is southern ( no long service in Armed Forces have change it ) so i think it will be very hard to realize radiocallings playing the role of a northen pilot.
I think it could better to realize something in italian language making every effort :wiggle:to speak without dialect and to this action i have worked.
I hope my work is not affected by any "Soprano's" dialect.
Best Regards and Arrivederci

I can do a Brazilian language package. We have a nice participation at Italy, flying a lot of attack missions using P-47Ds. Some of our pilots dis more than 50 missions without replacement. Even the American liason officer flew some missions (he falls in love with Brazil and now lives at Niteroi, near Rio). The 1o. Grupo de Caca (1st Fighter Squadron) received a US Presidential Unit Citation (Air Force) for its work.

The unit symbol was an ostrich (they said here it was easier an ostrich fly than Brazil goes for war flying)...

Once the end of May gets here I will have more time to work on the project. By all means, get the raw files recorded and I will finish the package. Working with Dandolo, I think I have perfected the recording process. I hope to have a small "teaser package" uploaded to the forum by the end of the weekend. It may be next week. This will be the Italian version of bri01. Dandolo has discovered that we can save time by using the Franz Von Baron voice packs as a template. These files are smaller but seem to have everything that is essential. I still need to get his official Okey Dokey.

Again, anyone wanting to make the raw recordings, just download the British Radio Packs from Simviation- Miscellaneous section, then get split GVR from Martins site. PM me and I'll send you my e-mail address. I stll think a humorous pack is an interesting idea spinner boy, but the language packs will take precedence.

Anyone wanting make and upload their own language pack will get nothing but support from me. Just ask.

By the way this is my new favorite smilie. :friday: It seems to be an international way of saying "'sup bro'!"

Hello Peperez, i do not know the meaning of RA and Cb.

Reggia Aeronautica and Co-Belligerante. The biggest part of RSI pilots were nothern. A lot of them just goes north to be near their familly and enlisted to RSI forces to not be arrested.

Pepe

Well, I am still learning. I found a way to improve the quality of the radio messages so I have to go back and redo what I have already done. To make a long story short, you have to reduce the size of the wave file quite a bit to get them to fit into the gvr file. In the process, some methods destroy the quality more than others. Be patient and I will get the first teaser up soon enough.:friday:
