T-28D Trojan released. payware

I don't believe they ever did. A side note, that was my job in the USN: Egress Mech. NC

Thanks Navy Chief. I remember two different types of parachutes. The one that I wore while flying in the T-28 was exactly the same as what I started out wearing while flying on the C-124. It had a "D" ring on the left chest side which when pulled almost immediately deployed the canopy. The parachute that I wore as a C-130 loadmaster was the same as used in airplanes with ejection seats. It had an oxygen bottle and a "T" handle for chute deployment. It also had an attachment where pilots flying ejection seat aircraft hooked onto for low level ejection sequence. The "T" handle started the deployment process but, would only actual open below a certain altitude.

In full disclosure, I must admit that I'm digging into memories from the middle to late 1960s....LOL.

I found an issue with night lighting and the exterior model. Lots of bleed through on the left side of the cockpit at the wing root.

Like Roger i have non whatsoever DX10 issues with Ant's amazing T-28. No blinking or other lighting problem at dawn/dusk/night at all. Looks all brilliant, best i have ever seen re lighting in DX10. Steve Parsons is the word and saviour for all your DX10 problems, Heywoood. You know that, don't you ?....

cheers,
Trojan

I'd like to say yes, but my experience was different - I uninstalled and returned to DX9 a few months ago because of this issue

I didn't see any reference to a fix on Parsons' blog so I assume it is not fixed...

for midday flying DX10 with Steve's fixes is great - but I prefer the dawn dusk and night flying in FSX

Any chance I can get you painters out there to paint her up in U.S. Army colors?

Still can't stop flying her!

Ian, the Vietnam War Project is a collaborative effort by several fellows (If I remember correctly.) It's a pretty big project and includes most all the airports, bases, airfields, Lima Sites, etc. retro 1960s.

I think this link will take you to the project. http://vietnamwar.project.free.fr/ If not, check flightsim.com.

Edit: Ian, I just checked the above link. It worked for me.

RD

Many thanks RD, I'll check that out.

Regards,
Ian.

Would just like to add my congrats to Anthony on this aircraft.

It is simply stunning. Great work indeed! Thank you

You are absolutely right, many t-28Ds, d-5s and d-10s were indeed modified with the "yankee extraxtion system", the same as used on the skyraider.

And now I have an answer to my question about the warning decal on some of the "Raven's" T-28s. If you look closely, you'll also see the warning labels on Piglet's T-28D that is used as AI in the Viet Nam War Project's scenery package. I'm really enjoying joining up and flying in formation with these while flying Anthony's just released model.

I'd like to do that. I have the VnW project installed. What time/day/airport do you use to link up with the AI T-28's? Bear with me as I am not very AI enabled but I do have all the VnW traffic bgl's installed to my World Scenery folder.

Obie, it's kinda a hit or miss thing with me. I think you'll find them flying out of NKP, Thailand. There's also some at some of the other locations. If I knew how to deconstruct the FSX AI files, I could tell you exactly what airstrip and what time. I probably have only got lucky one or two times and caught one in flight.

Is there anybody who reads this know how to decompile the traffic bgl file and help Obie and me get a better flight schedule? Please...

RD

I looked at that - but I must be slow...or impatient - or both

Why cant every sim use the Il2 method - you want to place some planes at an airbase. no prob..
You want to assign way points, course and speed, no prob
Give them a target? cool
the simplest FMB or Full Mission Builder ever...
set the map or region, time of day, weather, aircrafts and paints, load outs of fuel and cargo or ammunition - all very simple.

I would pay money for such a utility in FSX
The one linked above looks like it might do those things - but I don't want to have to get a degree in theoretical science- just to use it now and then

and just to keep this thread on topic ...

Anthony if you're looking in on this thread now and again I want you to know - the more I fly the Trojan - the more I find to love about it...

the way the beacons 'rotate' is a special touch

the engine sounds right compared to the big T-28 I see at Gillespie every year...

the form, fit, and finish is perfect

Thanks for the link robert41. But I don't really want to learn how to use another program just to take a look at the traffic bgl that the VietNam War Project group has already put together. I was hoping that someone who already knows how to use a program like the one you suggested would volunteer to decompile it so I could take a look at the airports and flight plan information. Having stated that, however, I guess it wouldn't hurt to stretch my mental abilities once again if no one steps forward.

Having a little bit of T-28 time in the B model and the Fennec, I have been following this aeroplane very closely and after reading everyone's remarks here, decided that it was time to purchase.

That I have done, but at present I am away from home until tomorrow and thus the T-28 will be unflown until I arrive home and transfer the files over to my sim PC. Looking forward to reliving some good experiences.

Best wishes,

Martin

I purchased the Ant's T-28 yesterday and flew it last night. If you are on the fence. buy it.

I love the fact that I was able while on approach trim up the airplane, and it just flew itself down the glideslope. Considering that is is a big airplane and a trainer, that is as I figure it should be.

I took it up stalled it and kick rudder and held. She dropped her nose, oscillated a second or two then started to spin. Relaxed the stick and centered rudder. She flew right out of the spin as benign as could be. A loop and a roll or two were equally as I thought they should be.

I came home and shot the above mentioned approach then to a close and overheard landing. A most enjoyable 40 minutes.

For $20 I consider this airplane to be a great value.

Landing Gear problem

Just bought this wonderful aircraft and love it, but I seem to be having a problem with the Landing gear constantly cycling between Up and Down?
When on the ground the gear stays extended but the lever switches every few seconds up and down while you are in the VC.
