Do yourself a favor and take a vacation. Very cheap appartments for hire on Skiathos,Greece.

I'd say this is easily the most enchanting island scenery ever released for FSX. And not only that, it has the most enchanting fps too for an Autogen infested scenery. Absolutely breathtaking ! :applause::applause::applause:

Superbly developed by 29Palms and published by Aerosoft. (also available at Simmarket)

Those shots and the FPS comment sold me!

I need to get this, even though I have not yet managed to fly there in RL, I will do so soon. This scenery might be a good way to practice the approach. The runway is supposed to have a double slope with the middle being higher than the ends. Do I see something like that in your second shot???

Thank you for the HU.

I've got to have this, Skiathos was the first place I ever went on a Hydrofoil and the approach/landing into the place is fantastic on a nice night. :applause:

Dimus, those screen shots look so real. :applause:Almost could be mistaken for some of the photos you have shared with me from your real life flights.

Kalimera?? That means Good Morning. It looks as if the Sun is setting, so maybe Kalinihta would be more appropriate?

I've been to Skiathos on holiday, and because of the very short runway we took off light on fuel, then went up to Thessalonika to top up before flying home to
Gatwick.

It's very entertaining watching the aircraft approaching low across the harbour whilst having an evening meal.

It looks very well done. I hope they do one for my favourite Greek island. Kefalonia.

Dennis.

Ditto that Dennis! Cause if they do they would probably also do my favourite as well, Ithaki, as it is so close and also has a heliport.

Randy, I've been to Skiathos on a sailboat and it is a great place. Whenever I fly there, I'll take pictures and we can compare the scenery.
Just 200Mb to go, boy 1.5 Gigs for a small island must be good...:jump:

Great shots and a great looking scenery indeed! Sadly it does not work in DX10 mode, so that leaves me out.

Wishful thinking.. :) The exit to the apron might give you that impression, yes, but the runway here really is flat.

If you say so, certainly, but i only remember Kalimera from 'Who pays the ferryman'... :)

Can imagine that !

It's not exactly like 29Palms Skiathos of course but UTX Europe doesn't do a bad job on Greek islands at all. Kefalonia included:

Slave to DX10, huh.... :)

I love DX10 too but personally i don't have a problem going back to 9 to enjoy an exceptional beautiful scenery like Skiathos. Hey, would you let an opportunity to buy a Lamborghini for next to nothing pass by just because you only drive Ford ?...

cheers,
jan

Thanks for the shot of Kefalonia Janos. A view I know well, after 30 or so visits my wife and I have made there. We always stay in the same village, with the same family. Where is that? Not telling! Our little haven away from the tourist spots.

I also see in the background the sister island of Zante, or Zakinthos as it's better known.

Ithaca may be there Dimus, but it will be further out on the top left hand corner of the shot.

Efharisto para poli!

Nope, that's all Kefalonia there, Ithaca is further north east. I have UTX and GEX EU and you are right, it does look much better than default, but the fidelity of scenery like 29palms did in Skiathos would be great.

Back on topic: I got the scenery last night, installed it but have not tried it yet as it got too late. Can't wait to get back from work tonight for some scenic approaches.

If I could only drive the Lamborghini around the block and the ford everywhere, yes I would pass on it and that is exactly what happens when a developer "chooses" to not make their designs work in DX10, either thru choice or working outside the SDK pararmeters. I am not knocking the scenery, looks fantastic, but I "choose" not to give my money to a developer that won't make their designs work in the viable option I operate my sim in, simple as that. Maybe if enough DX10 users did this, developers would think harder on making it work in all modes.

Agreed and with P3D V2 looming this year with Dx10/11, I'd have thought more devs would be concentrating on getting compatibility.

I have to say I consider this one my best purchases for FSX scenery. Even in my low end system, performance is astonishing and the looks are excellent. Never too fond of photoscenery, this one seems to have worked well by the devs and the colours are very lifelike. I like that it blends nicely with the GEX textures that I have installed and cover the surrounding islands. I flew the plane I intend to be my ride to Skiathos very soon and explored the island and the airport. My shots are not as good as Javis's cause of the lower resolution of my system. I swear I heard those seagulls that nearly hit me on final and that guy took my picture.:icon_lol:

Tell me this is not real!

This is just to show how colours blend with the island in the distance (Skopelos):

I see your point. But it just might be that a scenery dev has to choose between loosing certain effects in favor of DX10 compatibillity. F.i. the nightlighting in Skiathos is really amazing and a.o. i see light fx i personally have never seen before, like 3D lightbeams on AI cars. Maybe not possible in DX10 sofar.... And of course, if it wasn't for Steve Parsons who would use DX10 today...

And yes, i'll take that Lambo anytime even if only for a run around the block.

Lovely shots there, Dimus ! :applause:

I was pleasantly surprised too to not only see those seaguls but hear them too ! Just another sign of 29Palms superb detailing in this scenery. I'm going to try and rent a boat, see what it's like from the water. We should investigate about AI aircraft traffic. Nothing much going on right now. ( i use UT2 ) I read something about special AI flightplans for 29Palms Mykonos ?... ( i don't have Mykonos yet) Do you have any AI traffic going on at Skiathos ?...

cheers,
jan
