I sure wish we could see a quality bare metal finish.....different shaded panels and such for Warwicks bird.

Marvin,

I have created an updated flight profile, as well as a custom sound-set for this particular Texan. I am not finished yet, but you are welcome to contribute your work to what I've done, and maybe we can get her wrapped up? Another painter was working on it as well, but wasn't able to finish. Anyone know a really good T-6 Texan? I'm talking radial engine here! Lol.

Unfortunately, no. Wozza's freeware one is the best one available though.

I really, really hope this one gets picked up by A2A someday. Doubt that'll happen... oh well. :crybaby:

I'm really disappointed to read a comment like that, and I don't see that as necessary at all. Warwick Carter's model is superb, as are the SkyUnlimited examples, which are fully out-fitted with all of the original cockpit hardware, and are also extremely accurate in reproducing the same 'lines' of the real aircraft (not to mention a whole assortment of Texan/Harvard/SNJ variations). Both productions have some very unique features about them as well. Between them, I can't pick a favorite.

Here are some screenshots of the unique SkyUnlimited LT-6 'Mosquito' of the Korean War era:

My paints will all be polished aluminum, with different numbers on them and some sort of loony toon character, Im still working on the rivets, but the interior is done. Have painted it green. Will have pics soon!!!

Marvin, I like what you've done with bare metal so far. I'd also like to see what your skills can up with for the equivalent of aluminum paint, as used on USN/USMC planes in the "yellow wing" era before WWII.

Sorry to disappoint you? Not everyone is going to like everything or like the same things you do. My opinion is that I'd like a T-6 of A2A quality. It is my favorite aircraft.

Nice screenshots anyways. :ernae:

I don't know if this information ever got out as much as it should have, but Warwick Carter was a big help to me during the development of the Texan and Harvard models that were published by SkyUnlimited. Through the forums at FFDS, Warwick helped me many times when I got stuck trying to make custom animations for the planes. We never considered each other as competitors, but two people with a common goal of making a good model for FS9 and FSX. Mr. Carter is the very definition of a gentleman.

One reason why there was no further development of the SkyUnlimited models was that the text file with all those custom animations got lost in a virus attack. I wasn't ready to try and re-construct a file that took 5 years to build.

Looks like the Boxed versions of the SkyUnlimited T-6 and other aircraft are on sale at the moment. Anyone know have opinions on the merits of Volume 1 as apposed to Volume 2, as far as models and flight fidelity?

Dave

Dave, I have both, and with Volume 2 you get quite a bit more than you do with Volume 1, for really no difference in price. The flight dynamics are very nice, but a bit underpowered (much like the flight dynamics with the Warwick Carter model). I've simply increased the horsepower and changed a few other items regarding the engine and prop in mine to get more airspeed out of them. I've been working on new textures, specs, and bump maps for the SU models at double the resolution as they come, with the hope of producing a number of my favorite Texan, SNJ, and Harvard paint schemes.
