Sibwings An-2 is released

This is proving to be a little more challenging than I expected.

After going through the manual, I figured out how to perform a cold start. I can taxi out to the runway and take off, but as soon as I'm airborne I've got black smoke. If I advance the throttle to gain altitude, I soon have a fire onboard.

I'd like for once to get a clean flight, but have yet to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the check list in the manual, but am overlooking something.

Anyone have a suggestion on what I might be overlooking??

Thanks.

One of the very best lower priced aircraft addons for FSX!!!! Having a hoot;-)

One of the very best FsX add-ons, period!

Except for one or two spelling errors it is just perfect! Set Cabin integrity in accufeel as low as possible, up the drag rumble noise and don't forget to open the cockpit door while flying for that extra bit of audible immersion!

Am really enjoying this. Was a little worried as to the download and installation, but everything went nice and smoothly. Attention to detail is superb and at the moment am trying to get to grips with starting her. But had a lovely slow flight around my local area and plan to do a lot more. Good job, its not for real as there is no way that I could afford to keep one of those engines going! :)

Best wishes,

Martin

Got this from the manual and just had to try it:

A note from the pilot's handbook reads: "If the engine quits in instrument conditions or at night, the pilot should pull the control column full aft and keep the wings level. The leading-edge slats will snap out at about 64 km/h (40 mph), and when the airplane slows to a forward speed of about 40 km/h (25 mph), the airplane will sink at about a parachute descent rate until the aircraft hits the ground."

It is possible, but it did cost me my landing gear, and the prop is somewhat bent..

This is a great paint btw:

Cool plane, they took one up on the show "Destination Truth" and the top of the cockpit blew off and turned it into a convertible.

Yes, Ferry, I couldn't agree more! What a beautiful model. And the system simulation is top notch as well! :applause:

It certainly is enjoyable! Just be mindful of your carb and oil temperatures!
Not quite sure why some are having difficulty starting it. I was able to in just a couple minutes without even consulting the manual.....

...anyway, I've noticed this on a few shots (including my first one when I was just minutes into exploring)....don't forget to slave/sync your gyroscopic compass on the main panel (below the attitude indicator) with the wet compass. That's what the little button to the left of it is for (after you have the appropriate electrical systems on).

As far as extra items that people may not be immediately aware of:
Many of the windows in the cockpit open.
You can move the green shades in the cockpit and hide the canvas shading on the "ceiling".
Be mindful of the pneumatic controls, and windshield heat and wiper controls directly on your left!

I was wondering about the sound of the plane. I checked allot on utube and they seem very loud in the cockpit. I would like to see a video with just the plane and no music.

Here's a repaint resource for the painters:
http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/t/9

Note that the paint kit is linked to on post #52 of this thread. Also note that it includes the ability to "paint" the VC with the addition of a psd layer just for the text, thus allowing the ability for those interested to convert the cockpit to completely Russian (or Polish, Hungarian, etc, etc).

Do we have to go to a cold start? When I switch to the An-2 I have engine running, morse code letter H is repeating and moving the cowl flaps switch with the mouse and roller does not increase or decrease the cowl flaps at all...same with the oil shutter. I can find no mention of audio signals in the manual so I've no idea what the "H" means. I'm wondering if I should have checked to see if there was a quick start option as I just don't have the time to pour over the manual in it's entirety.

This addon does not support auto-start (Ctrl-E).
I'm guessing that though the engine remained running when you switched to the aircraft, the electrical system (among others) is not set up. You'll have to activate the circuit breakers for such things as the cowl flaps (and pretty much everything else) for things to work right. It just take a little reading, but it's fairly intuitive.
Though one can start up this aircraft and get everything going system-wise in just a couple minutes if their capable of learning and/or competent, this isn't an addon for those that insist on Ctrl-E. :)
