Aircraft Factory's Avro Anson MKI

Well Stiz...someone's been busy:engel016:.
So it looks like we may have 2 Ansons coming along so let's make sure we show a little respect for both designs and designers.

have been indeed Roger :)

Also, as i know it'll come up, i'll just say this. I told Francois about this plane a couple of hours after he announced his anson on here, he didnt know about mine and i didnt know about his, so no one copied each other trying to get in first etc etc etc, theres also no hard feelings from this end and i hope theres none from his end :wavey:

Looking very nice!

It's funny how a type of aircraft in FS can be like buses. No sign of one for ages, then two turn up at once!

Very pleased with the FS Addon Gladiator, and also the Aircraft Factory Corsair, so might well get them both!

Thanks for the HU.

Cheers

Paul

Spectacular! This is one I've been hoping for for years. A definite must have. And A2A of course will do a quality job.

I must say though that the screenshots give a misleading impression of the size of the cockpit interior. Its looks relatively roomy. Understandable, you can only do so much on a computer. But in reality though it's very cramped. At the Australian War Memorial they have an genuine Anson cockpit set up as part of their Coastal Command display. The cockpit is literally no wider than open arms width. Really surprising when you see it up close. You gotta wonder just how pilots managed to move around with all their flight gear on - or how they managed to bail out in a hurry!

I have read accounts of British bomber crew(s) that could not wear their parachute when in the aircraft, at their station. They would have to move then put on the chute to bail out.

Climbing into the Anson is a mission even with only a camera and small pack , getting in the door in today's clothing made it a little easier ... you have to give a thought for the guys back in the late 1930s and early 40s and to think you are going to get out quickly would be a different matter , it dose have two roof escape hatch's , i'm 6ft and skinny as a rake handle and i mentioned this to the staff at the Wigram Museum - it is one heck of glass house as well - no protection at all .. fortunate it was only on secondary duties in the firing line .

Took me a little while to find it but gives you a good idea of the layout ;)
