Gsl

Hi All;

Talon, will we be able to run both campaigns from the same install? I believe the GSL files are both named 'korea' if I'm not mistaken. I've installed your USN Campaign and it looks very good. Thanks for the hard work.

Cheers, :encouragement:

No alpha. The USN was done before the SW scenery came out and I haven't redone everything yet for it.

Thanks m'Man

:untroubled: No sweat, Talon. I just thought that perhaps one or the other could be renamed to, say 'korea1' or such. You've done some very nice work on these Korean campaigns........they are excellent!

Having a slight problem in Korea

You've done some very nice work on these Korean campaigns........they are excellent!

As others have said, I agree!

However I cannot find the "wep_f4u-4_drop_tank" or "wep_x00lb_bomb" for the F4u-4b Corsair listed in the DP. Anyone?

P.S. "x being any number from 100 thru 2000lb bombs", in the DP.

Talon,

Many thanks on capturing the initial stages of the USAF effort in Korea, your dedication to reviving this theatre is appreciated more than you realize! :ernaehrung004:

Yeah!

Hey Talon,

I noticed you used the livery of the aircraft flown by Maj. "Moon" Mollins, for one of the F-51D Mustangs you included in your campaign!

A famous member and ace of VMF214 during WWII, nice choice!

Cheers!

I'm not sure which to continue the USN or USAF.There is also the USMC. I'll just have to think about it.

Call the Ball.......

Talon, I'm an old sailor so my preference if it came down to that would be the USN campaign. It's much easier to land on an airfield, however. The biggest problem I have with this sim is carrier landings. Boy, those puppies sure do look small from up there.

Brings to mind the old Microprose game of F-14 Fleet Defender. For that period of development it was awesome. A guy could make some pretty good traps on the slant if he practiced. Ahhhh, the good old days (also brings to mind my old Tandy 286, which is probably resting at 60 fathoms in computer purgatory somewhere).

Seriously now......you've worked hard on these campaigns and they're very good. It would be an absolute shame to see anything on Korea go to waste, in particular your stuff. I keep thinking that there must be a way. If you need some grunt work done to change some things.......I volunteer. I'd be glad to help.......dumb as I am, I CAN follow instructions.......I think.

Stay the course my friend.......if you're able.

There were some marines and navy that flew F86s with the USAF during this time period.

Former astronaut and senator John Glenn is a high-profile example. A WWII Marine aviator who flew an F-86F Sabre nicknamed "Mig-Mad Marine" in his second Korea combat tour on an interservice exchange program with the USAF 51st Fighter Wing. Bagged three Mig-15's in the infamous Mig Alley.

I have day to day ops of the USN and USAF and alot of info on the USMC ops.The other info I have is on Saber Aces.

The biggest problem with the USN is they did alot of ground support and in N.Korea there is alot of mountain.AI planes don't like mountains very much when doing ground attacks. It's basically the same with the USMC.So far I have figured out some work arounds for the missions but most people will have problems flying them right to hit the right targets.

The USAF also did alot of ground support and it seems they had more air to air combat then the others. With the ground attacks so far I only found 1 that is touble.

Yeah...i feel you on that AI in the hills and mountains issue. I think the best workaround would probably be to re-class all of the fighters and fighter-bombers assigned to ground support and strike to "dive bombers" and have another separate group retained as fighters for A2A sweeps and strike escort. The dive bomber tag may force the AI engine to push them down harder into the target. I've seen how well the Japanese and American DB's perform in CFS2 WWII action. They try a lot harder than glide bombers and fighter-bombers.

Hey All,

I believe this was the issue that stoped the Mudmovers project. Tweeking the AI to do what you want can be a hassle.

There are alot of tunnel attacks. The RAAF has a bunch on their list. I wish we could have a useable rail system that is easier then the current one. Maybe I'll work on that later. I do have my tunnel. I need to finish the damage model and do some simple LODs. I'll also need some images of Korean tunnel enterences. That way I can make them blend in.

Talon,
I messed up my Korea install. Bad enough that I have to redo it. I did manage a few missions before it all went south. That will teach me to play with things.

I think at some point we should see about updating the FF missions to work with SW's new scenery. I'm sure we could get perms from Tango. He may have done it already. Then again maybe not.
