IRIS Pilatus PC-21 75th Anniversary released

As I mentionned, I do agree for the VC, much crispier. And the sound gives also a more realistic impression (but I had already modified my own V2 soundpack, so I can't perfectly evaluate the difference...)

For the way the plane sits, it is certain that the undercarriage of V2 is too high, but don't forget that, for the comparison of the silhouettes, I put all the three planes on the same axis of reference on each image.

For the pleasure of flying, I must admit to be disturbed by the NG fluctuating with the RPM axis, and by the tanks... I have 60 min of fuel just after take off, and that's very short, but understandable while round 200 kg of fuel are missing... So, maybe this bugs distorts my judgement, but I'm also disturbed by the way the plane lose energy (did you attempt a looping ? What do you think ?), and, while I thought that V2 was too fast, I think it's too difficult to reach even 300 knts with V3... It's certain that I need training, but I'm not so sure it will change these characteristics, particularly with an airplane lighter than the real one...

I haven't tried any loops yet. I will try some later. Maybe they will do a quick update to correct fuel, speed and power issues.

I am not a rw pilot and comparing drastically different planes is probably not valid, but at 10000 feet, my a2a mustang set to 46.2hg and 2909 rpms (which is pretty much max safe) shows 294 knots indicated. So 289 kts in the pc-21 at 10,000 should be about right; right?

I don't think that the comparison is valid, but any comparison is interesting. That's what I like in the simulation, we can fly such different aircrafts and have a look to what differs !

That said, the max. speed at sea level must be 323 KTAS, and 337 KTAS at 10.000 ft according to the manufacturer. So I think your values are pretty good.

For the autonomy, I've not checked the distance, but if you can fly the normal distance with 244 L less than the real plane, I presume that the consumption isn't right...

Quick test reveals no performance issues here; 340 kts at sea level flat out and 327 kts with gauges in the green. Aerobatics no problem at all!

Thanks for the feedback so far guys, I'm just having breakfast but I'll pop in afterwards to respond to your comments. ;)

Okay, so to catch up on some of the messages so far...

Firstly, Simmarket, FSPilotshop, Flightsim Store, PC Aviator (AU and US) and Just Flight were ALL sent e-mails at the same time notifying them of the new product update and advising them to adjust their installers accordingly. Most have complied with the request. If the store you're using doesn't have the updated product, please let me know and I'll chase it up with them.

Secondly, I want to thank you ALL for your encouragement and feedback so far. The 75th Anniversary Edition of the PC-21 has brought with it a number of changes, we knew from the outset that some may not approve or agree with them, but we made those changes as we felt it was in the best interest of the simulation as a whole. I won't go into all the changes that were made, but they were extensive and in our opinion, worth the work.

We will be continuing making adjustments based on the positive constructive feedback which we have received to date on our support forums and support ticket system, some of them are minor changes, others require more in depth adjustments to the core of the product. In addition we are still in the progress of repainting the original schemes from version 2.0 of the product to the new model. As these modifications are made, we will update the core installer and advise people via our social media feeds and website.

If you're unsure whether you want to install the new version, please rest assured that the product runs separately from version 2.0, meaning you can have both the old PC-21 and the new one installed at the same time.

Regards

David.

Up to 25 percent off all IRIS products for a limited time

There's a sale going on right now at IRIS. Just bought their Pilatus PC-21 v3. So far I like it. Performance is quite ok, usually glass cockpits are killing the FPS on my cheap laptop, here I notice only a very mild drop.

I hope Dirk Hueschelrath is going to convert his fantastic RNoAF texture to v3...
