What are you using to unzip files?

I was wondering what you guys are using to unzip fsx files. My old system I used freeware Winrar.

Thanks for your thought

Jim

For plain zip, I usually use the built in Win7 function. For other types like .rar and .7z, I use winrar and 7zip, I prefer 7zip though.

Thanks all for input and glad these two are still in play. Went with 7 zip on the new computer. I'm not up to date by any means on keeping track of these utilities so thanks again!

You also might want to check out a program named "EndItAll2". It is around on various sites.

I use it on my XP Pro operating system after the computer boots up to shut down unnecessary processes that are not needed for a computer dedicated to gaming. Then I initiate FSX. Works fine for me.

I use payware WinRar, as I have many files that have to be compressed in .zip or .rar format. Been using it for years, recently updated.

FWIW I use WinRAR. Used this program through WIN98, Win2000, Vista and now Win7. See no reason to change it, simple, works and 100% reliable.

7zip.

Regarding Winrar:

Had my fair share of Winrar use before 7zip hit the market. Never bought it though. (Hell is more interesting anyway.)

Used Winrar many years ago, until I ran in to 7zip.

I've been using 7zip ever since, and never looked back.
