Talon passed away

No.....

What an awful way to start a new week....:dispirited:

I could not believe the title of the thread. After Talon's last crisis, reading about his slow recovery gave me the illusion he was going to be better... Please, accept my deepest condolences, Hiede.

This is indeed a bad loss for all of SOH community, Talon's contribution to our common passion for flight and simulated air combat was enormous. His historically accurate mission writing gave us some of the best sensations about how it must have been back then.

His no-nonsense attitude towards other SOH members might have raised an eyebrow or two here, yet I always thought that directness is born of honest minds, while diplomacy, more often than not, hides the real thoughts of a person.

I tend to mistrust 'diplomatic' people, while I appreciate anyone who vents his or her feelings as Talon did so often. I never felt less than comfortable while exchanging comments with Talon and asking for his valuable suggestions.

Talon's heroic behaviour during 09/11 tragedy speaks by itself of his generosity towards his fellow human beings and it's the best confirmation to me that he was a wonderful person.

I have a proposal for SOH: let us dedicate a small page of this website to all who left us and who generously donated their personal effort to improve CFS2 and the other flight sims supported by SOH, Akemi Mizoguchi and Talon.
Let us keep their avatars, like Talon's splendid 'full sail in the wind', and display them in this area, so that their memory is not lost.

You will be sorely missed, Talon. Rest in peace.

May a warm, gentle wind always blow upon your shoulders, may your sailing of flying skies be always sunny and blue, may the Gods hold you in the palm of their hands.

When his wife passed some years ago he and i communicated frequently as he struggled with the loss. We got to know one another beyond the forums as we worked on several projects together. I have to echo Kelticheart's comments regarding appreciating Talon's no-nonsense attitude and his prowess and passion in mission building. He'll be missed...

Another of the "originals" has left us. Very sad to read this. Let us honor him by never letting the wonderful gifts he shared with our community to be forgotten. It's because of him, and others who share their passion for flight Sim with the rest of us, that we have such a magnificent virtual world in which to fly, and experience it in such an "in your face, this is the way it really happened" manner. Blue skies and fair winds to you Talon. You are not forgotten.

oh no, what a sad news...

Fortunately, he has had the opportunity to enjoy life as he wanted to, by sailing the Pacific Ocean and this is something that not everybody can do in an entire life, even once retired.

My condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Al on some his CFS3 projects, really nice guy, and will be missed!

My condolences to his family

Very sorry to hear this, Al was a top bloke, and like others have said very nice to work with.

my condolences to all his family. RIP Al.

regards Rob.

Rami,

:applause: :encouragement: :applause:

It's not exactly what I had in mind, also because I made a typo by leaving out the term 'like' before Akemi and Talon names, it should have read:
"....and the other flight sims supported by SOH, like Akemi Mizoguchi and Talon." It sounds different.

I imagined a page listing just the departed friends' avatars, with their pseudonyms and real names written on the side, but this is better.

All of their contributions grouped together, I can't think of a better way to remember them: keep their memory alive through their work.

Thank you, Rami.

Oh my.

I have been away from the forum for a few days. i did not have as much interaction with Talon as many of you have, but I found him so helpful when I was trying to get his missions working for me. I wish I could have known him personally.

My prayers are for his family and friends for comfort and peace.

Well the Vultures are circling with their greedy little claws already. I knew this would happen but they are in for a big surprise.Al always planned ahead and put the boats Condo and houses in my name in 2013.

Kelticheart and Bearcat241 you are so right about Als no-nonsense attitude.I've known him since 1998 and he was always that way.He didn't believe in being politically correct and spoke his mind.Alot of people probably didn't like it but that was his way.

The person that will miss him the most will probably be my daughter,he was basically her father figure.Ever since she could walk he would take her for walks on the beach everyday until she started school and then on the weekends. Now at 11 and going on12 she still loved to go with him and talk about things.

There is more I could put in here but don't want to bore you.

I also want to thank everyone for their kind words and Prayers.Much Appreciated.

Hiede
