Devildog73,

Hey, great to have a fellow MB buddy back! I have some good news for you...I dug out the beta mesh (including a roadway and localized scenery around Cassino) and rebuilt the monastery in the correct location overlooking the Liri Valley, at the right height. and adjusted the missions accordingly.

I was thinking of making it into GSL to improve framerates and decrease mission loading times. I can post a screenshot tomorrow, if you wish. :very_drunk:

Go for it my friend!
Any additions to the Tuskegee Airmen campaign is much appreciated.

Devildog73,

Making steady progress through the missions. Here is a listing of what has been transferred into GSL so far...

Avignon, France
Miramas, France
Nimes, France
Sele, France
Toulon, France

Budapest, Hungary

Athens, Greece
Pireus, Greece
Salmais, Greece

Alessandria, Italy
Fiuggi, Italy
Furci, Italy
Gallicano nel Lazio, Italy
Genoa, Italy
Latisana, Italy
Naples, Italy
Nola, Italy
Sulmona, Italy
Trieste, Italy
Valmontone, Italy

Auschwitz, Poland

Oblia, Sardinia

Licata, Sicily
Riesi, Sicily
Sciacca, Sicily
Messina, Sicily

The oddity of Valmontone is you had two sets of towns, about 3km apart, but now they are together at last. :dizzy:

However, the most difficult part remains; turning into GSL all of those bridges that litter Central Italy during Part III.

Rami,
I guess I am going to have to get back into Tuskegee Airmen Campaign and rewrite it a bit now that you are giving us more targets to destroy!

Lee,

No, you've got it the wrong way 'round. YOU have already done these. What I am doing is taking the towns and scenery you have already done, making it GSL, then removing said objects from the missions in order to allow them to load faster. Plus, all of those bridges you did in Central Italy are now GSL as well.

The only time I added my own work was for Toulon, Naples, Licata, and Messina. Everything else is you. I even made Sciacca harbor into GSL.

For Devildog73 and Shadow Wolf 07...Cassino WIP

Good morning,

I finished the primary GSL work around Monte Cassino when I woke up up just before 4:00am and couldn't go back to sleep. I completed most of the layout work last night when I was talking to Shadow Wolf and Grizzly50, so I just needed to test the layout and turn it into GSL this morning.

The biggest challenge was building the town on the grid, and including the rail station. :very_drunk:

For the monastery, I used materials from Brunosk's Malta package and some of Wolfi's buildings to separate it somewhat from my "typical" Med scenery look.

The scenery may need a flatten....Greg tried to help me with that last night, but my mind was mush. The flattens the way SW 07 describes would smooth and provide some contour. (I still feel guilty for attacking a historic location like this...)

Greg...perhaps these images will help?

I think I know what you want to do... We'll talk later, okay?

Below: example of simple terrain contouring but you only need one flatten in the shape you showed me yesterday. These flattens are 50' apart in elevation.

Within the next 72 hours...

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that within the next 72 hours, the Tuskegee Airmen auto-installers will be released. I have compiled all four packages, including all of the files required. I just have to write the readme files and do the required screen shots for the auto-installers.

This is the full campaign, all 106 missions, including the new GSL work and the Monte Cassino scenery.

After that, this will join the ranks of the retired. :encouragement:

I look forward to this one. Retiring? Still willing to make Tidal Wave Auto install?:wiggle:

Dasuto247,

I will do the Tidal Wave auto install as soon as I am done with this.

The "retiring" part is that they won't be worked on again.

Parts I and II are done...

Good evening,

I am leaving off here for tonight, and picking it up again tomorrow. :biggrin-new:

The Tuskegee Airmen - Part I.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Campaigns Add-Ons

Description: Welcome to Part I of the Tuskegee Airmen campaign package! This is an effort to chronicle the flying history of the Tuskegee Airmen, who began their combat life as the 99th Fighter Squadron, and who later became the 332nd Fighter Group. Starting in April, 1943, this campaign package, split into four parts, covers one hundred and six missions from their beginning in April, 1943 to their end in May, 1945. The total length of the campaign is chopped into four smaller campaigns because of the limits of AI aircraft.

Within this first package, you will find all of the single-engined aircraft, gauges, sounds, & weapons required for this campaign. All the required single-engined aircraft have been included, as well as any historical repaints that would have been used during or near the time that the Tuskegee Airmen fought their way from Casablanca to Berlin. Those whose work has been included in this first package include the Alphasim freeware team, Dbolt, Graham, (VB planes) Oldwheat, Bub, Brunosk, Bismarck13, Paul Rebuffat, Team Daedalus, Captain Kurt, Morton, Moparmike, the Virtual Wings team, Obio, Watchdog22, the Groundcrew team, Lawdog2360, DD546, Sopwith Chameleon, Peperez, the DoAv2 team, Isoliti4gatti, Kelticheart, Jaxon, Mike Hambly, Marc Siegel, Andrew Wai, Misson, the FDGv2 freeware team, Akemi, ChrisN, Cobrauk, and Krystof Malinowski.

All of the aircraft in this package have been modified, when necessary, to include the appropriate repaints, when possible, for the aircraft. I've also included modified .dp files for each aircraft which correct information in the [MISC.DATA] section that I found to be in error. To lessen issues with frame rates with many waves of aircraft in the sky, all exhaust effects have been removed, if they were included in the original models.

Additionally, all weapons required for the aircraft have been included.

Within this package, you'll find the scenery objects, anti-aircraft guns, buildings, ships. sounds, and UIRES screens, as well as nearly all the other equipment required, together with the campaigns & missions themselves.

The only thing missing from this package are the scenery folders, GSL files, and layouts. To keep the file size manageable, this will be in the fourth and final package.

Those whose work has been used for this project include: Davmag, Brunosk, Pen32Win, Achim27619, Xavierb, Wolfi, Stiz, The Virtual Navy, MaskRider, Gary Burns, Nanni, Nibbio, Bismarck13, Captain Kurt, Ajax, Mas, Canion, The Groundcrew Team, Steve Seybolt, Simonu, Jim Jacobsen, Paul Rebuffat, Usio, Serge Tremblay, Blackbird686, LouieG, the FDGv2 team, and the AF Team. Due to this, it is imperative that you get permission from all parties involved before uploading this file package to any location other than www.sim-outhouse.com. Good evening,

I hope this will encourage more people to enjoy one of Devildog73's masterpieces. This campaign became notorious for the sheer volume of equipment and scenery required to run it from beginning to end. Even in this form, it took about a full week to put together, tweak, test, and overhaul.

I know that Devildog73 and others were enthusiastic about flying this campaign again, so have at it!

P.S. - Kelticheart, this really is a complete overhaul with new aircraft, new parts, and most of the missions have been modified from the previous version that was in the library, to remove permanent scenery objects from the missions to reduce file size and loading times. Your best bet is to download these four packages.
