No, if it is just marked "Disabled" it can be "Enabled" by clicking on it, clicking "F" and going on to next one, or exiting out and restarting the sim.

If It is marked "Disabled/Not Availabe" then it is waiting to be updated and should come back later. All the 2020 aircraft and sceneries that were available before can be restored.
 
Well now after that exercise, I'm stuck on the loading screen at 56% and according to the official forums, I'm far from alone. Asobo has become M$. Screw everything up and just don't care.

Keep in mind it's going to take a lot longer to load the first time as it's downloading a crapload of base data. Shouldn't get stuck at 6%, but my first load after the patch took about 4X as long as subsequent loads. My suggestion on first post-patch load is to wait for it to get past 7% (which seems to be the "servers are hosed" magic number) and once it does, go to another room and do something fun for 15 minutes. Then come back and enjoy the sim, knowing it will likely but not definitely take a lot longer later.

Thanks for finding the "disrespectful messages." I was wondering what those were! Hilarious that the QA is so lightweight that nobody caught that. Some livery artist has dealt with too many Internet a-holes and finally cracked.

Mine stuck at 56% also. I let it run for about 10 min before using Task Manager to close, then restart. Second time there was no hang.
 
I've had two new odd ones since the 12/10 "Plethora of Nothingness". One of the aircraft I've been using without issues, now locks up when I try to start the flight. The aerial view zooms in, but then never goes any farther. Another aircraft that was okay before, now gets stuck in the walk around View, because it disables the keyboard commands.

Stuck at 6% loading language again. Never, ever, had this much trouble getting into any game. Just the worst user experience. Whose is running this at MS? They need to be walked out TODAY!
 
Well.... I can certantly get some pretty screenshots out of 2024, but the game now is so unstable; I either can't get in, or suffer frequent BSOD's. It may be time to do a full uninstall and just go back to FS2020 for a while. Reading through the forums, this is not uncommon. MS is recommendating uninstall and reinstall. 40 minutes into this morning's launch and I'm just getting to 9% package activation. The west coast servers are crap.
 
So, I finally got things working again and saw that one of the 2020 world update packs was disabled. This update had a lot of aircraft in it, so I activated them but now I'm stuck at the 56% mark again. I can't turn it back because these were not in my community folder. I can't disable the items again unless I get into the game, but I can't get into the game unless I disable them. I'm sorry but what a S&*t show. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. If something is that critical, it shouldn't be allowed to change.

I'm going back to Red Dead 2, at least that works all the time.

Which 2024 package did you purchase? I bought the Premium Delxe, and when I tried to enable the 2020 packs, not including the individual aircraft, I recieved a warning pop-up stating that if I enabled the 2020 Deluxe and/or the Premium Deluxe packages, I would lose the 2024 partial updates to the aircraft involved in those packages, so I did not enable them. When I did that, the 2024 packages showed up in my files list. They were not there before. I really don't know what's happening to yours, it seems some are having different problems, beyond the more common ones.
 
Hi Don, Thank you for your help first of all. I purchased the Aviator package. Flight simming is my hobby so I figured what the heck. Anyway, I thought I would be missing all those aircraft if I didn't activate the 2020 packages. There was also a ton of P51 variants that I activated that were not available if not. How are we supposed to know what we should be doing here. It seems crazy that Asobo is depending on people like you to pass on information like this. I also tried to disable Asobos TNCM as I want to use the AWD version that is much better and thought this update disabled because of that so I went through each item in the 2020 package and updated the items in it one by one. Not sure how I can even launch the sim at this point to undo everything.

Most anything to do with flying is also my lifelong hobby. I thought about the Aviator package, but I realized I didn't need any more SWAG. I'm at the age where I realize it's time to start getting rid of some of it. Since all the planes and scenery were in the Premium Deluxe, and the extra special ones I already had, so I'm good.
I agree, it's been, and still is a major headache, learning this stuff. Luckily, I'm recently retired, and with a cold winter settling in, I have time to fiddle with it, as long as I can afford my fast internet. I have found, so far, that if I wait a day after updates come out, I can download very quickly, and not have as many errors. I would say you should be able to go ahead and run your sim. Then, if it loads fine, and you find anything that doesn't work properly, (remember, most 2020 stuff is not complete, yet,) you can go back in and disable it, if you wish. Not sure what TNCM & AWD means, in this context, I don't remember all the meanings of the letters. (My old brain can't come up with the right word.):(
 
Updates: Bane of much of my life. The autopilot on the aircraft I am working on (Flt dynamics) was working OK mostly if not complete. After the update mostly inop or just does stuff.
