Screenshots (FS2024)

Hello John, those are beautiful screen shots. especially the one with the setting or rising sun, probably The Rising Sun, since it's a Japanese Zero!
Quick question, how did you get the Flying Iron P-38 to fly along side the Zero? Or the Corsair?
Thansk, Ed

Thank you, Ed. I use the addon called Airshow Assistant, which allows you to create formations by adding up to several aircraft to follow you around. There are many options for different formation types, as well as adjustable scales for formation accuracy, response time, spacing, etc. For me, it's just fun for screenshots to put more than one aircraft in the shot. And sometimes, by messing around with the different formation settings, to get it to look like friendly dogfights/tail chasing as well. Unfortunately, in MSFS 2024, even more so now since the release of SU3, the cockpits of the AI aircraft you add for the formation will almost always be empty, unless it's a 3rd party addon with a dedicated pilot that's always displayed, like the Blackbird/Milviz Corsair. I really wanted to do some screenshots with the A6M2 A1-1-129 and the GotFriends F4F Wildcat in a VMF-112 paint scheme (as A1-1-129 last saw combat dogfighting with Wildcats of VMF-112), but unfortunately when the GotFriends Wildcat gets spawned as an AI/formation aircraft, the wings remain folded.

Both of these warbirds are part of the Planes of Fame Air Museum's flying collection at Chino, California.

John, your shots are brilliant. But so are your 2020 shots. I REALLY don't see the benefit of 2024.

Sorry.

Thank you, Jan. Right now, my most favorite FS aircraft, in either sim, is the Blackbird Simulation's Zero, which is only available for use in 2024, so that's my strongest reason for using 2024 at this time. If it were available for 2020, I don't know if I would be using 2024 as much, especially since the release of SU3 and the annoying issues it has caused that were not present before. I really enjoy grass field, back country, low-altitude and mountain flying, which is leaps and bounds better in 2024 than 2020. Until SU3, the photogrammetry in 2024 also never looked better.

For me, the back country/general aviation style of flying that I do, 2024 is massively improved above 2020. The AI generated objects when you land at a grass strip or even a smaller paved airport are so much nicer and higher resolution than 2020 was. 2024 also has better flight modelling including turbulence/wind physics and better ground handling characteristics than 20.

Some of the default 2024 planes aren't great - and the stark contrast from FSX to 2020 is not the same as 20 to 2024. If a person were to fly airliners only, 2020 is probably more stable for sure.

I still prefer the atmosphere and sky coloring in 2024 though.

Dug her out of the back of the hangar and slapped a fresh coat of paint on her.

hi tankerguy, where can one find that beauty? and will you share that paint? thats my favorite plane of the bunch,, and partly because of the number 43, lol, its in my nick, and was the number we always used, was my first hobby stock race car, then when id be hired to sit in a seat in a sprint car, if long term, they would use my 43 with a small K for my last name, and 43x was, well i dont know, but its something i dont care for.. wheres the tank though?

Hi Dave,

It's the Virtavia Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat for MSFS: https://www.virtavia.com/gallery_Tigercat_MSFS.html

Cheers,

I did have some pink textures and dark canopies on the Meteor and Seafire since SU3 but ran the json generator which did the trick. Have to try the Spitfire and Cougar again just to check

Had no issues with them upto that point though.

Some shots from SU4 Beta - loving the new power line poles and towers, and the photogrammetry looking as good as ever. Also, as I've noticed over the past few days driving to and from work, I've been enjoying seeing the trees starting to change colors, and it has been awesome seeing this happening in the sim too, with each day there gradually being more and more trees changing colors - no two days the same.

@ Priller

These are Rob's other aircraft in 24, the issue on the Cougar is the foot sticking up as circled. But I think it happened in 20 as well?
