Well that was close. What a mess. We (being I) installed a mod in the webserver and it killed the webserver service. trying to fix it seemed to break more things than fix. We contacted our support team and after they worked on it for awhile things got worse. We were last night at the point where things were so bad it was time to reload the whole server and start over.
The good news is we did not have to rebuild. The support team was able to fix the apache issue and we fixed the database software issue. Then from there it was a matter of resetting ssl certificates and fixing missing dns entries.
One thing we know is still broken is email. We can't send it from the server and we can't access it if it is coming in.
There might be other things that are not correct. Please post them in this thread if you find something.
