w-190A-8 BUTCHER BIRD
This aircraft was built by Gregory SARGE Pierson using version 2.82.100 of the AvHistory 1% Assembly Line process. It is based on the stock MS Fw-190.
Dan Swart has custom painted this aircraft to represent "Black 8" of Unteroffizier Willi Maximowitz, IV. Sturm/JG3 based at Salzwedel in June 1944.
Willi Maximowitz shot down 27 enemy aircraft, 15 of them four-engined bombers. He claimed one bomber by ramming on 23 March 1944 and possibly rammed another bomber, date unknown. On the Eastern front he shot down 12 aircraft.
In February 1945, IV./JG 3 moved to the Russian Front. On 11 March, he was credited with three twin-engined Boston bombers and one Russian fighter. On 20 April 1945, Oberfeldwebel Maximowitz of 14./JG 3 failed to return from a combat mission. He was probably killed in aerial combat with Russian fighters around Frankfurt am Oder.
