P-47M THUNDERBOLT - CFS3
V2.82.98
AvHistory 1% Aircraft General Statement and Installation Instructions
It is the intention of the AvHistory 1% project to over time build the most accurate aircraft that the CFS3 software can support. The development of a 1% aircraft requires specific and in many cases dramatic changes to the aircraft delivered with the MS game as well as the addition of aircraft built from the ground up by third parties which were never included in the original MS game. We believe that because the AvHistory 1% aircraft are materially different they should not be mixed with "box stock" aircraft in online combat.
All the planes 1% listed for download are qualified for use in our AvHistory William Tell Meet Air Combat Ladder. For information and to get the sign up sheet for the ladder please go to the LINKS section at http://www.avhistory.org
P-47M THUNDERBOLT
This aircraft was built by Gregory SARGE Pierson & Jerry SPARKS Beckwith using version 2.82.98 of the AvHistory 1% Assembly Line process. It is based on the stock MS P-47D.
Dan Swart did the really great custom "PENGI-V" skin flown by Boleslaw "Mike" Gladych for us.
A really cool thing about Mike Gladych is that he was never even in the USAAC as he was a 'guest' of "Gabby" Gabreski. He actually was a Polish AF pilot who escaped from a Romanian internment camp at Turnu Severin and reached France, where he joined the recently formed volunteer "Finnish" Squadron, intended to take part in the Finnish-Soviet war. When Germany attacked he flew for a French Air Force unit equipped with Caudron Cr-714 "Cyclone" fighters. When France surrendered he escaped again and flew Spitfire Mk V's for the Polish Squadron of the RAF
Gladych met Capt. Francis Gabreski (or rather Franciszek Gabryszewski, in
Polish), when he was in the Polish Fighter Squadron. By now he was a very well-known fighter pilot. Gabreski offered him flights in the U.S. 56th Fighter Group, outfitted with P-47 "Thunderbolts".
Soon, Gladych organized battle training for inexperienced American pilots. With the 61st
Fighter Squadron he took part in many combat flights. On 21 February 1944 he downed 2 Bf 109s on one mission. Mike was one of the highest scoring pilots in the 56th with 14-1/2 kills
GLadych was also shot down 3 times by a FW190 Black #13 (once in the FAF, once in the RAF, once in the USAAC) each time he was badly damaged and Black #13 wagged his wings an let him go. After the war at a memorial he accidentally bumped into Black #13, Georg Peter Eder, an ace with 78 victories who was himself shot down 17 times!
The 1% version of Elders Fw-190A-3 is also available for download from AvHistory.
